The commemoration of the proclamation of the Indian Republic celebrated throughout India is particularly impressive in Delhi. The President of the Republic of India salutes the crowd. Then comes a great military parade on Rajpath, then a high-colour parade: folk troops representing the various states of the Indian Union, elephants and camels. The next day, a folk dance festival took place at the Talkatora Staduim.
The festivities end in Delhi, on Vijay Chowk, with the Beating of the Retreat (29 January). This new ceremony evokes the end of the battle, procession of bands. At dusk, the clarion is followed by a great fireworks. The monuments are lined with éléctriques garlands.
