ANNIVERSAIRE DU SOULÈVEMENT DE LHASSA

Commemoration of the uprising in Lhasa and the Dalai Lama's flight to India. This commemoration is still alive, even though it remains discreet. Today, Tibetans commemorate a Peaceful Uprising of thousands of men and women who went to Lhasa to claim independence for Tibet (which had abandoned its sovereignty in 1951 when signing the 17-point agreement with Beijing). The uprising will be crushed in the blood for 3 days and will see the escape of the sovereign - the Dalai Lama - and his government (and more than 80 000 Tibetans) in India.
