Dance Events Brittany

Undoubtedly the festival of Saint-Loup is the oldest feast of Brittany, indeed its origins date back to 1850. Today it is deployed to the sound of bombardes and binious ou or kozh during the second half of August. Since 1957, it has become the indispensable meeting of the Breton dance. Each year under the aegis of Kendalc'h, an organization bringing together Celtic circles, is the national competition of the Breton dance. On six days dancers, musicians and not least, find themselves between the Vally and the Place du Centre for a hot dérobée. As for the excellent Jean-Pierre Ellien, one year on the other for a number of decades, he remains the main player and masterpiece of this festival.

This festival, which has animated Guingamp since the 19th century during the second half of August, has been devoted to Breton dances since 1957. During this event, both traditional and contemporary, you will attend the national championship of Breton dances, but also free initiations, costume parades, folklore shows, concerts, exhibitions, Breton wrestling tournaments... Without forgetting the traditional challenge of the dérobée, a typical dance of the city, and the inevitable fest-noz!

A dive into the dance! That's the promise made every year by the organizers of the Waterproof festival, which has been held throughout the Rennes region since 2020. In 8 towns, from the Breton capital to the surrounding communes, choreographic shows, performances, workshops... await you. To warm up the month of February, a number of events invite you to take a step or two, such as the Marathon de la danse: four hours of dance and uninhibited challenges at l'Ubu. The creations of local and international artists are combined in a variety of venues. Contemporary dance, urban dance, theater, circus, digital arts... all merrily intermingle.
