With half a dozen films in competition and a wide selection of shorts and features, this 30-year-old festival is a testament to the vitality of British independent cinema. The event in Dunkirk has launched the careers of "small films" in France that nobody would have bet a kopeck on, such as Billy Elliott or The Full Monty. Its small size allows it to remain a friendly place of exchange, where one can easily discuss with the artists present.

The independent and alternative comic that has seen the last decade the flowering of artists like Marjane Satrapi or Johan Sfar has always been on the stern, so styles and techniques evolve. One of the oldest events in Brittany, since it was created in 1923 by Louis Le Bourhis. A lord all honour, Gouel year Erer Kozh, more known in the Hexagon and Europe under his French name of festival of Old Ploughs. Eighteen years of history, eighteen years of success, originally an idea of three friends. A joke almost, to freelance it in some way to the summer and coastal feasts that each year honour, who is singing sailors, who are old hulls, which are old rigging… hence its name'Old Ploughs '. The Lillico Theatre organizes every year 11 days of festival especially dedicated to children from 1 to 12 years old. Marmaille and Marmaille en fugue do their utmost to enchant children and families. Every year, the Lillico team plans a breathtaking program with about thirty performances of all kinds throughout the city and the department: cinema, music, theatre, puppets, circus arts, storytelling, concerts, film-concerts, meetings, public readings and animations. Marmaille et Marmaille en Fugue therefore invites you to explore different spaces and artistic forms. The Summer Festival Festival is a youth festival, designed by young people who are offered to those on Rennes in the heart of the summer. A good opportunity to be festive while delivering a popular education event. In fact, this eco-citizen festival offers citizen lectures, world music, writing workshops, dance workshops, drawings, cinema to the beautiful star and even grafts. This time dedicated to 15-25 years is also sailing between urban cultures, rap, reggae, soul and bold trends. During two evenings and during the days, young people can enjoy the originality of the demonstrations in the Gayeulles park. Every year, Brest hosts a bagadoù contest organised by the Assemblée des sonneurs Bodadeg Ar Sonerion. The first round takes place at Quartz, and the following rounds in the other Breton departments. Each bagad offers a continuous flow of Breton music of a region or a determined territory for ten minutes. At least half of these performances must be made up of music to dance. In 2015, the event will celebrate its 66th edition.

Would you like to dance with your feet in the sand? Les Électros de Quiberon is the electronic music festival of the beaches of Quiberon Bay. Supported by the Hermine Records label, it offers several dates throughout the summer. Each evening features artists from the electro scene. Some evenings are free and others cost 5 € per admission.

Les Nuits Vilaines is a very young festival which will celebrate its second edition in 2020. This festival, which has animated Guingamp since the 19th century during the second half of August, has been devoted to Breton dances since 1957. During this event, both traditional and contemporary, you will attend the national championship of Breton dances, but also free initiations, costume parades, folklore shows, concerts, exhibitions, Breton wrestling tournaments... Since 1986, the West Coast Association has been campaigning for the promotion of cinema, particularly the short film in Brittany. Animated films and fiction from 3 years old, "For Pitchounes", for 8 years "Tales and colours", and for 13 years "Mines of nothing." Meetings, educational booklet, exhibitions, workshops: everything is done to enable children to better understand the world of images. All of them will be spoiled, small and large, enthusiastic or curious, amateurs of escape or meeting. Every autumn, therefore, it is an invitation to travel to the European Film Festival.

Algues au Rythme is an association created by the young people of Arradon. The initial idea was to propose an event for the young generation, and more precisely a concert of current music, outdoors. The event has grown and expanded with success. From one evening, it has grown to two days, then three days, and now welcomes street arts and children's shows for a free evening, open to all. Shows are also performed, upstream, in schools, EHPAD and residential homes. This festival is also committed to a sustainable development approach and to raising awareness of ecological practices.

The Festi'Val de l'Oust is one of those small, hyper-friendly festivals, on a human scale, to which one quickly becomes faithful. And there's plenty of it! The whole village of Saint-Servant, and its surroundings, gets involved in this great event. Everyone is a volunteer, dressed according to the theme of the year. Organized in the middle of summer, on July 20 and 21, 2019, in the heart of Bois du Poulbert, the Paka Festival is the first music and entertainment festival for children and adults organized in La Trinité-sur-Mer. A festival that the organizing team wanted to be family-friendly above all. The festival is committed to a friendly experience by offering two days of music and shows for young and old, with a stage open to live performances for the former and a rich musical programme for the latter. The purpose of this first edition is to bring together the inhabitants of La Trinité-sur-Mer and the surrounding area while opening up to tourists and curious people from all walks of life. The team, composed of about twenty organizers, most of them in their thirties in Morbihan, has surrounded themselves with some 150 volunteers for the project. In the top three of the organizing team, we find friends, all attached to their territory. Steven Hemono, the festival manager, is a former bar manager who has organized many events, parties and festival covers, Georges Le Guennec, the artistic director, is a former film producer for major international festivals, also the creator of the Paka brand, and finally the couple of travel bloggers Arthur Crinquette and Claire Le Bourlot who are better known as "Les droneurs" and bring together a community of more than 60 000 people on social networks.

All are specialized in their field and share the same desire: to make this event an extraordinary moment and to make the festival one of the essential events of the summer period.

On the programme: concerts, entertainment, shows for young and old, but also a strong commitment to reduce the ecological impact of the festival (use of non-polluting vehicles, organic food, waste sorting), while emphasizing the development of sustainable actions (reduced paper consumption, dry toilets, recycled paper furniture and a portion of the profits donated to the association Les Mains Dans Le Sable, which organizes beach cleaning in Brittany). Every summer, as the city calms down, the streets empty out and the seagulls make themselves heard, the beach spirit settles in on deckchairs in Place de la Mairie, in parks and in the neighborhoods of Rennes. It's a great place to be, and moments of idleness can be enjoyed in many different ways. This lovely initiative gives Rennais a summery face and an indolent holiday look. Free concerts, night tours of the Breton capital, Fest-deiz, food market, Sunday shows at Le Thabor for the very young, bal populaire, fireworks and many other surprises... A dive into the dance! That's the promise made every year by the organizers of the Waterproof festival, which has been held throughout the Rennes region since 2020. In 8 towns, from the Breton capital to the surrounding communes, choreographic shows, performances, workshops... await you. To warm up the month of February, a number of events invite you to take a step or two, such as the Marathon de la danse: four hours of dance and uninhibited challenges at l'Ubu. The creations of local and international artists are combined in a variety of venues. Contemporary dance, urban dance, theater, circus, digital arts... all merrily intermingle.
