A demonstration of the men of Beqa, the famous «firewalkers», those who walk on fire, is also offered by the real inhabitants of the island. Although these tourist attractions, if they lack authenticity, allow us to learn a lot about Fijian culture. The reconstructed village is very beautiful and situated in an extremely pleasant setting. But Arts Village is also the Tiki Pool, its swimming pool that makes everyone happy. A compromise between a swimming pool and a sculpture, the Tiki Pool has a slide, a waterfall that escapes from Tiki's mouth, a Jacuzzi and a water bar to which we are dressed in a bikini, the behind in the water! At the same time, the Centre offers activities throughout the day: fishing, cooking courses, volleyball game, botany…

Spinning on the water amid dense, verdant vegetation, lulled into silence (!) by the lapping of the water and amazed by waterfalls gushing from all sides - that's what the Navua River descent promises! The Navua River is located about 8 km from Pacific Harbour. Its source is on the southeastern slopes of Mount Gordon, and the Navua River flows for 65 kilometers.

There are two pottery villages, and since it is useless to make the same visit twice, choose one of them. Between Lawai Village and Nakabuta Village, we recommend the second one. It is bigger and you will see more clay items. They are generally small handmade clay objects with irregular curves and shapes. We also discover, and especially, a small Fijian village and its particularly friendly and smiling inhabitants, a nice detour! It is also possible to attend pottery demonstrations.

The 45-minute tour is more than enough time to enjoy this magnificent site. It takes us to a height of 30 m for a lovely view of the coast: big waves, the sound of foam crashing against the sand... Before arriving at the dunes, you'll also pass through the forest.

Sand Dunes National Park stretches along the Coral Coast from the mouth of the Sigatoka River to Naqarai Bay, a distance of around 5 km. The dunes stretch for almost 2.5 km and vary in height from 20 to 60 metres. They are much more than just sand dunes: they cover a large part of Fiji's history. Research carried out since the ^mid-19th century, and even more recently, has provided important information on the periods of occupation of the Fiji Islands. The first archaeological digs in the late 1980s unearthed pottery dating back over 2,500 years, as well as one of the largest burial sites in the Pacific. Following this discovery, experts hypothesized that the first inhabitants of this region were of Lapita origin, a nomadic people who colonized many Pacific islands over 3,000 years ago. "Lapita" takes its name from an archaeological site in New Caledonia where similar pottery has been discovered. Whatever the case, this research plays an essential role in establishing a chronology of local and regional history.

Inside, everything is dark, only the torch of the guides illuminates us. Extremely deep, the cave is impressive and the myths that accompany it give you shivers down your spine. It is the last stronghold of the cannibal tribes of Fiji, hundreds of people lived there comfortably: we can observe in particular an altar which hosted the rituals and an oven. The highlight of the show is the thousands of small birds' nests hanging on the wall that we discover when we leave. A pretty and atypical stroll in the time!

Moving deeper into the Sigatoka Valley, one arrives at Tavuni Hill Fort, which was established by the Tongan chief Maile Latamai. The fortified site at Tavuni was maintained until 1875, when war broke out following the signing of the cession act to Britain. In 1876, the fortified village of Tavuni was destroyed by government troops. This place has also kept many testimonies of the period of its settlement and cannibalism. There is a "killing stone" on which the enemy was killed before being eaten.

It is the residence of the President of Fiji and a replica of the one in Sri Lanka, which was under British rule at the same time. The current building was constructed in 1928, after the previous residence was completely destroyed by a fire started by lightning.

Obviously, you can't visit the presidential residence for security reasons, but you will notice the imposing guard, dressed in white "sulu" and a red jacket!

On the same street, you can take a look at the Government Buildings.

The Sacred Heart Cathedral, or simply Suva Cathedral, was built in 1902 with rock from Sydney. Imposing, it is inspired by Romanesque architecture and is covered with stained glass and ornaments. It is the main building of Catholic religion on the island of Viti Levu.

It is difficult to enter, as it is often closed, but try to come a little before the mass hours in order to have a little visit.

Just as wild as paradise, the beach is one of the nicest in Fiji and one of the longest. Dark sand, palm trees, shades of blue on water… We dream.

There are stretches of grassland on a very chaotic path. A beautiful expanse of golden sand awaits us, where it is very pleasant to enjoy. It is the largest bay in the South Pacific, and is used to meet bottlenose dolphins. But be careful, not only: there are a lot of unique treasures and this small expedition may well be the highlight of your stay. The diversity of fauna and flora is remarkable in this remote and still wild region, we are completely enchanted by a world that does not yet belong to us and for which we are simply amazed by so much grandeur and majesty. A real snorkeling paradise, you let yourself be carried away by gentle currents that reveal sumptuous colours, to say the least. It is in this bay that the locals find refuge in times of cyclones. It is also said that this bay is "the bedroom" of the dolphins, who enjoy its calm for the night. These are indeed wild dolphins, with whom you should not expect to go swimming. But just seeing them play next to the boat or race with the zodiac is an unforgettable experience. The bay could very quickly become a marine reserve as local people, marine biologists and professionals operating in the area wish to preserve this real little paradise. On the way back, ask to stop at the Leya reef, which is also worth a visit. We recommend that you organise a day trip by booking with your hotel or a small excursion agency.

This guided tour of a day offers a hike in the heart of the tropical forest. The route allows you to observe the many birds of Project, but also to swim in the waterfalls of Tavoro.

Located 25 km from Pacific Harbour, Kila World is an amusement park offering all kinds of challenges: high ropes, rope jumping in the void - enough challenges to feel as agile as Indiana Jones at the end of the course! The park is home to the longest zip line in Fiji (440 m), it offers the opportunity to overlook the beautiful Namosi River and the lush vegetation of the region. The visit consists in going to the top of the hill to observe the two cannons and a restored bunker. The small collection of photos in the information center is interesting and evokes the military activity of the time. This place will be appreciated by tourists looking for stories and anecdotes, especially since the Momi cannons are the only ones existing in Fiji. The walk also allows you to take a nice panoramic picture of the Mamanucas.

Suva's craft market is probably one of the cheapest markets on the island. For once, it is not part of the city market, but located a few minutes walk from the fruit and vegetable market, across from the coastline. It is presented in the form of several aisles, in a large shed. You can find everything: masks, tanoas, bags, card games, etc. You can negotiate, but not much, the prices being already very low. At the exit, you will find a small canteen, mostly frequented by locals, to eat quickly after the visit.

Follow the sign "Sabeto Hot Pools" or ask the Botanical Garden reception someone to guide you, the path being not easy to find. If you've come by your own means, take the time to have fun in the mud baths. Three small "pools" and a small exchange cabin await you.

Mount Batilamu is also poetically known as "the sleeping giant". Mount Batilamu stands 1,100 metres high in the Koroyanitu National Heritage Park. You'll need around 5 hours to climb it, so plan a day trip. In our opinion, this wilderness option is a more judicious choice than visiting Lautoka: despite the considerable effort involved in the climb, you're rewarded by the end result, an absolutely sumptuous panorama of forest and ocean. We can even see the Mamanucas and Yasawas archipelagos.

This is a pleasant excursion from Savusavu. On the way you can stop off at the viewpoint and the Urata café before reaching the village of Vuadomo. It's easier to visit the waterfalls via a tour operator, as the paths are not always well signposted. Your guide will also take care of the waterfall entrance fees and the sevusevu for the village chief. Not far away, you'll also find hot springs in which you can bathe, but the place isn't very well signposted either.

The Beqa lagoon has acquired an undisputed reputation for diving, with around 100 sites accessible in the vicinity of Beqa Island. As sharks are particularly fond of the area, Beqa lagoon is now mostly known for its organized dives to see sharks up close, but always in compliance with basic safety instructions. There are two options for discovering this lagoon: either stay on the island in one of the resorts , or take a boat from Pacific Harbour to the dive sites.

The hinterland is worth a visit. Although Namosi is the smallest of Fiji's provinces, it offers a spectacular array of colors and landforms of canyons, rushing rivers, waterfalls, rugged mountains and lush forests. The Namosi highlands overlook the Wainikoroiluva River, which is ideal for rafting, and you can also travel on a bilibili (bamboo raft). Don't forget to bring some kava to the villagers! For a stay on site, Namosi Eco Retreat is a good option.

A very touristy excursion to discover Likuri Island (also known as Robinson Crusoe Island). Includes transfers from hotels in Nadi or on the Coral Coast, boat trip to Likuri Island (approx. 30 minutes), visit to the Fijian village and pottery site, kayaking and snorkeling, lunchtime barbecue, kava ceremony, dinner(Fijian Lovo), firewalking show.

It is the most beautiful of all the markets of the island. Its well-ordered stalls, its colors, its scents ... it deserves a visit. Because of the large Indian population of Lautoka, the market abounds in Indian flavors and especially in spices. There is also an artisanal space where the objects are manufactured under our eyes. It is certainly one of the best places to buy quality souvenirs at a reasonable price (you can haggle anyway, but just a little...), especially beautiful carved wooden paintings.
