In the heart of one of the most beautiful oceans in the world, between the parallels of 15° and 22° south latitude, emerge the 800 heavenly islands and islets of the Fiji archipelago. A real treasure of the Pacific bordered by coconut palms and protected by coral reefs, long perceived as inaccessible from both a distance and a budgetary point of view. Today, Fiji is opening up and has become a key destination for newlyweds, divers, surfers and any traveller looking for a lost paradise. While the archipelago's dream beaches and luxurious resorts attract many tourists, Fiji has much more to offer than that. A trip to these islands is above all a sharing with a most welcoming people who have a lot to share with us. Go quickly to meet him!

A natural destination and breathtaking landscapes

Fiji's territory covers more than 200,000 square kilometres of ocean, but only 20,000 square kilometres of land; mixing lagoons and tropical forests. From Viti Levu to Vanua Levu, via the Lomaitivi, not to mention the well-kept garden of Taveuni, nor of course the paradisiacal islets of the Yasawas and Mamanucas: Fiji has a lot to offer.

The beautiful beaches are located more on Viti Levu than Vanua Levu, but especially on the Mamanucas archipelago, with Mana Island (the Magic Island), Malolo and Malolo Lailai, which offer all types of accommodation. For the party, we will choose Beachcomber and for the Bounty Island dive. The Yasawa archipelago, for its part, includes a number of islands, each more beautiful than the next. More mountainous, wilder because more remote and accessible to tourism for less than 30 years, these islands are little frequented and are among the most beautiful in the country. You can access it by ferry, seaplane and why not try a cruise?

Divers come from all over the world to Fiji, whose many sites are internationally renowned. Among the must-see attractions are the Beqa lagoon on Viti Levu, for shark watching, the Nanuya Balavu site in Yasawas where you can see Manta rays. In the Mamanucas, the island of Mantaray Mantaray is also ideal for watching these rays while sipping a cocktail over the waves. On the island of Vanua Levu, it is from Savusavu that you can access the island of Namena, to make one of the best dives with several types of sharks. Finally, the Somosomo Strait in Taveuni is a must with the Rainbow Reef and the Great White Wall, gigantic underwater walls, leading the diver to soft corals, up to 60 m deep. Spectacular!

Fiji is much less popular than Indonesia, but it has some very good surf spots. Off Malolo Lailai in the Mamanucas archipelago, Cloud Break is a place renowned for the strength and perfection of the waves. Also south of Viti Levu, between Nadi and Suva there are a number of beaches ideal for snow sports. On Viti Levu, you can venture out to discover the superb Navua River, by rafting or kayaking through local agencies located on the site

Meeting with Fijians, an authentic people

Today, while Fiji is modernizing, the country remains deeply marked by its history and the cultures that make up its society, on the one hand the so-called "ethnic" Fijians, and on the other hand the Indo-Fijians. The two cultures have coexisted for nearly 130 years. The largest part of the population is concentrated in Viti Levu (75%) and Vanua Levu, the second main island, is home to only 18% of the population. It is a young country, with 53% of the population under 25 years of age.

In Fiji, the term humanity has regained its full meaning. Fijians are happy and envious of tourists. They know how to settle for little and enjoy life as it is. Every trip to Fiji is punctuated by the sounds of guitars or ukuleles, joyful songs, children's laughter, hand clapping or the sound of waves running aground on the sand.

We invite you to get off the beaten track and go to the villages themselves because it is here that you will have the opportunity to experience local customs, such as Yaqona, Tabua, the fire march and the Kava ceremonies (which most resorts organize). Finally, if you have the opportunity, try visiting a school, the children will welcome you with open arms!

Fijians are welcoming, proud of their beautiful nature, land and history, and have much to share with us. Positive and smiling, they remind us that at XXIe siècle, a simple life is still possible. You will quickly realize how lucky you are to get to know them and share with them, a daily life that is not yet guided by Westernized rites

Between comfort and tradition: an offer for all types of travel

The Fijian people live in total symbiosis with the nature they cherish and seek to preserve. Many eco-resorts are also emerging on the islands. Fiji is now showing a new face: that of a destination accessible to all types of travellers. With direct flights from Seoul, Auckland, Sydney and Los Angeles, and the emergence of a diversified tourist offer on the spot, Fiji has become much more democratic. Today, on site, we have a wide range of quality accommodation to suit all desires and budgets

Low budget, young people and backpackers

All the dreams of heavenly islets can come true! Especially on the Mamanucas Islands, where the hospital offer is rich and varied. The islands of Mana, Malolo and Malolo Lailai offer all types of accommodation and are easily accessible from Nadi. Also, all along the coast linking Nadi to Suva, there are many very pleasant places to put down your bag for a few days.

Fiji as a family

Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Mamanucas (Mana Island), Yasawas (Nacula Island), Mantaray Island, or Drawaqa Island, have a few establishments that preserve the land and the environment. The large island of Vanua Levu is a quieter and more natural option. The island being volcanic, we do not go there for its beaches but for diving, hiking and trekking. Its port, Savusavu is very pretty and peaceful, appreciated by a large community of expatriates from all over the world

Luxury destination

In Savusavu, you will find choice addresses, very comfortable and even luxurious. The Yasawas are part of these "honeymoon" destinations, Naukacuvu Island or Waya Island, are perfect for it: Suite Deluxe, overflow pool and private beach: you can touch the dream with your fingertips. If the budget allows it, we will fly to Taveuni, the Garden Island, the island is one of the most interesting from a fauna and flora point of view. It is so called because its soil is so fertile. Only a small part of Taveuni is occupied. The island, sparsely populated, has the best diving sites and a very rich ecosystem. Taveuni, offers quality accommodation of high standing with most often, certified diving club integrated and a welcome like nowhere else...

There is paradise, within reach, all you have to do is fly away. The question is, will you want to leave again? Have a good trip to the end of the world!

Smart info

When? When? As in all the Pacific islands between the Tropic of Capricorn and Ecuador, with temperatures never falling below 23°C, a year-round escapade to Fiji is possible. However, choose the months of September to November to avoid the hurricane season (January to March) and the New Zealanders' summer holidays (December 15 to January 15).

Getting there. Nadi International Airport has been renewed and increased its capacity, making it easier for the country to access from the rest of the world. While it can be reached by direct flights from Seoul, Hong Kong, Auckland and Australia, inter-island travel is also easier, thanks in particular to the Fiji Airways, the international airline of Fiji, which operates these routes. From Paris, count between 900 € and 1 600 € for a Paris-Nadi flight depending on the season.
