The Garifuna Trail is the name of a new community-based tourism project developed by the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations and the Belize Tourism Board. Dedicated to the vibrant Garifuna culture, the trail offers travelers the opportunity to experience the history, music, dance, art and cuisine of this indigenous and Afro-descendant community. They will go from Dangriga to Hopkins, along the Caribbean coast. It is also an opportunity to travel through some of Belize's most beautiful landscapes. More than 500 local businesses from various fields are participating in the Garifuna Trail. For your information, in 2001, UNESCO designated the Garifuna culture as a "Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity". For interested travelers, visit the Belize Tourism website.
