BROKEN BOOKS
Read moreIt is the independent bookstore in St. John's, with a fine selection of books and magazines of recognized publishers, for little understanding of Shakespeare's language. While you're bouquine, you can enjoy a good bottle of Fixed Coffee or a cup of tea, accompanied by a little treat. Note that since June 2016, a second branch has opened on Church Street in Bonavista, in the same building as The Boreal Diner restaurant.
GLAD DAY BOOKSHOP
Read moreA bookstore established in 1970, Glad Day Bookshop is the oldest LGBTQ2 bookstore in Toronto (and even in the world, according to her). At the end of 2016, the store left the premises it had occupied, just a few blocks away, for almost 50 years, in order to diversify its activity by offering in addition a coffee shop and a bar (closed late in the evening). The place also organizes weekly events, including the unmissable Sunday Drag Brunch (tickets can be purchased online). A really different bookstore!
LIBRAIRIE LE PORT DE TÊTE
Read moreAn absolutely brilliant independent bookstore with also a very interesting selection of rare and out of print books. It must be said that all booksellers participate in the development of the collection, whether it is new or used. We have chosen here to explore the field of quality, originality and good taste. Without a doubt, it was a success! Also, several events such as poetry readings, launches, meetings and others are frequently organized.
SAINT-HENRI BOOKS
Read moreLocated in a quiet street in the Saint-Henri district, this independent bookstore offers a wide selection of literature for adults and children, in English and French. Anthony Benda, who also owns the café-resto-bar Córdova located a few meters away (good to know: for every book bought, a coffee is offered!), wanted to make this place a real meeting place. A reading corner has been set up as well as a nice terrace at the back. Monthly book club and events (check the website).
