The Regional Municipality of Cape Breton buses serve several locations including Glace Bay, New Aberdeen, North Sydney and Sydney.

The Réseau de Transport de la Capitale offers bus services (serving the entire city), Métrobus (serving activity centres) and eXpress (weekday rush hour service). On Fridays and Saturdays, nearly fifteen bus lines provide a service for night owls (only a few trips are offered at night). Two bus lines (76 and 80) also serve Jean-Lesage International Airport. Go Transit is an inter-regional bus and train company serving the Greater Toronto Area and as far east as Oshawa and Peterborough, south to Hamilton and Niagara Falls, west to Kitchener-Waterloo, and north to the Lake Simcoe area. Fares are often cheaper than with bus companies such as Megabus, but the trip is longer due to the many stops and possible transfers. Be aware that there is a customer service center at Union Station (open from 5:45 a.m. to 12:45 a.m., starting at 6 a.m. on weekends).
