Time difference Australia

Australia has 3 time zones. The time difference varies from 6 to 10 hours with France depending on the season and the state where you are.

Western Standard Time: WA = GMT + 8 hours.

Central Standard Time : SA and NT + Broken Hill (NSW) = GMT + 9 hours 30.

Eastern Standard Time: QLD, ACT, NSW (except Broken Hill), VIC and TAS = GMT + 10 hours.

NT, QLD and WA do not apply the time change at the beginning of summer (Summer Time or Daylight Saving Time). This explains, between April and the end of October, the difference of only 6 hours between Perth (GMT + 8 hours) and Paris (GMT + 2 hours).

Opening hours Australia

To see / To do Australia

Between the dynamism of the big cities, the silence of the urbanoutback and the more or less festive seaside resorts depending on the season, you can imagine that life does not go at the same pace for everyone! On the East Coast, where the majority of the population is concentrated, the infrastructures open from 10am to 8pm on weekdays (later in the shopping malls) and generally stay open on weekends. In general, shopping centers are open on Sundays. In the interior of the country or in some areas of the north of the country (where the sun sets early), shops and other cultural establishments close around 4pm.

Enjoying yourself Australia

Whether it is winter or summer, in Australia the restaurant hours are variable as they are everywhere in the world. However, Australians tend to dine early. In urban areas, restaurants often have fixed hours and do not offer continuous service, so you can have lunch from 12 to 2pm and dinner from 6 to 10pm. Beware, in some tropical cities (Cairns or Brisbane), some restaurants follow the rhythm of the sun and close their kitchens at 9pm. In some remote areas, restaurants have variable hours and sometimes close their doors completely randomly. In some bush and outback towns, you will sometimes have no choice but to go to one address: the famous roadhouses, where you can sleep, eat and buy groceries and gas.

Take a break Australia

Whether it's craft beer, Australian wine or expertly brewed coffee, there's no time like the present to sample the delights Australia has to offer! Cafés are generally open from 6am to 7am until mid-afternoon. In high season, the doors are open every day on weekdays and sometimes even on Sundays, but beware, the opening hours become more random as you go deeper into the bush. Some cafes convert to bars in the evening and keep their doors open late into the night.

(To) please yourself Australia

In Australia, shopping malls and major retailers are generally open on Saturdays and Sundays. However, outside of the major shopping centers, some stores are closed on Sundays. In the larger cities, stores are generally open from 9:00 am/10:00 am to 7:00 pm/20:00 pm from Monday to Saturday. On Sundays, stores close a little earlier (around 6pm).

Get out Australia

Cultural and sporting events are part of the excitement of Australian cities: with their millions of inhabitants, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth are cities that never sleep! There are many bars, nightclubs, rooftop bars, secret clubs and other hidden addresses that do not close their doors until dawn. Nightclubs are generally open from Thursday to Saturday from 10pm to 3am (later for afterhours). In the more remote areas, especially in the small towns of the bush and theOutback, the establishments close much earlier.

Note that all major Australian cities, and often the smaller ones, have their annual festivals, which often last a few weeks and offer daily concerts and shows. These are good times to visit. In the same vein, there are also the Fringe Festivals, which program emerging artists, and often feature hilarious solo comedians or wacky shows.
