Until September 17, 2023, the Fondation Clément presents its first historical exhibition. For this event, it has chosen to focus on the former member of France's Constitutional Council, Gaston Monnerville.

Following extensive research, the exhibition sheds light on the life and work of one of the Republic's most forgotten figures.

Born in French Guiana in 1897, he was President of the Senate from 1947 to 1968. Throughout his life, he fought against all forms of exclusion, and defended respect for republican democracy.

The exhibition also highlights the political and social contexts in which he lived, re-examining the colonial situation, its evolution and current constitutional issues.
