TREE OF LIFE (SHAJARAT AL-HAYAH)

Natural site to discover

A local legend would like anyone who touches the Tree of Life to return at least once in his life in Bahrain. We don't know yet if that's true, but the Shajarat al-Hayah releases some magnetism, almost magical. No one knows how this tree has survived for four hundred years, without any apparent source of water. Archeological remains prove that the people of the past were intrigued by this tree, which we do not know very much about. Some experts imagine that an underground river watches this species of mimosa (Prosopis cineraria). But how do you explain that there is no vegetation around? Another theory would like the tree to survive with the humidity of the Arabian Gulf. It is also said that the Tree of Life is the last vestige of the garden of Eden. In all cases, this attraction is an interesting visit to the south of the island. A 500-seat amphitheater and a visitor center opened in 2014. You can observe objects found during archeological excavations.

JERADAH ISLAND

Natural site to discover

The Al Dar hotel organizes shipments to Jeradah Island upon request. More than an island, moreover, it is a sand bank that emerges from the sea at low tide. The place is paradise with turquoise water, a thin white sand net that goes beyond the richest water and seabed of the archipelago. But Jeradah is now threatened with extinction. The rise in water, coupled with the natural erosion of this fragile ecosystem, requires the authorities to regulate access to the bench to protect it better. You must book a boat in advance with the hotel, which will lead you to low tide.
