Built in 2005, the Atlantic Ocean Route is an 8.9 km stretch of Route 64. It connects the village of Vevang to the island of Averøy by 8 bridges crossing a string of islands. This route is the second busiest tourist route in Norway after Trollstigen (Route 63, from Langvatnet to Åndalsnes via Geiranger).

The Atlantic Highway (or Atlanterhavsveien) is a must for motorcyclists planning a trip to the northern countries. It's a very long road made up of bridges winding across the water, linking islands and small isolated towns. Don't hesitate to stop off at Mount Aksla for a breathtaking view of the fjords for miles around. But beware of the weather: this route is difficult in the rain, especially if it's windy!
