Getting around by train Norway

The terminus of the Norwegian railroad. Trains day and night depart for Trondheim daily. Possibility to Fauske in 40 minutes and then head towards Narvik by bus.

The train connects Flåm station, nestled near Aurlandfjord, and Myrdal mountain station via the Bergen Railway. For 40 minutes, you will walk along deep ravines and bubbling waterfalls. It is one of the narrowest and steepest railways in the world.

Daily trains to Oslo, Bodø and Sweden. Regional trains and bus departures to the airport. The bus station is next to the train station. Tip: take the night trains if you want to save time. To give you an idea, the journey from Trondheim to Oslo takes about 7.5 hours. There are regular departures and the fares are quite affordable. On board public transport, Norwegians are often quite strict on the respect of silence.

Vy is the national railway company. It operates train and bus lines, as well as freight transport. It has been in existence since 1854, when Norway's first railroad line was inaugurated. The train company connects all towns around Oslo to Bergen, as well as the three airports. There is a train station at Gardermoen airport, where you can buy your tickets. In Moss and Torp, the station is reached by shuttle bus (included in the price).

The station is known as Oslo S or Sentral, ideally located in the city center, near the opera house. Express trains for the whole of Norway to the terminus of the railway network: Bodø. Beyond Bodø, there's another 1,000 km to North Cape! To get to Narvik, 250 km from Bodø, you have to travel via Sweden. Numerous buses leave from just around the corner. Pay toilets (NOK 20), luggage lockers, restaurants and stores. Easy access, streetcars in front of the station.
