SEMANA SANTA

During Semana Santa, Holy Week, the Passion of Christ and his death are re-enacted through Christian processions organized throughout the country. Holy Thursday and Good Friday are public holidays and often a pretext for a whole week of vacation. It is also during this period that the famous Ujarrás pilgrimage takes place: hundreds of believers walk the distance between Cartago and the ruins of the oldest church in Costa Rica. This can be an opportunity to visit the beautiful Orosí Valley.
