DÍA DE JORGE DEBRAVO

Every January 31, Costa Rica celebrates the National Day of Poetry. This celebration is also known as the Día de Jorge Debravo (1938-1967), the day of birth of the country's most emblematic poet. Author of a social and committed poetry, the poet is still relevant today to depict a Central America that is sometimes subjugated and discredited. His works are published and studied throughout the country. Symbol of a national memory, the poet is the subject of numerous exhibitions, especially in the capital San José.
