Timetable

We start at 8am, if not before. In the South as in the North, coffee, Greek or Turkish, is part of the culture and is drunk all day long. And for as long as you want. In the evening, the establishments close late, often with the last customer, especially in summer.

Budget & Tips

Attention: coffees are not given in Cyprus, at least not in the South. But as in Greece, customers drag on and the €4 coffee lasts a long time! In the North, Turkish coffee is cheaper (and can be drunk just as slowly...).

Age restrictions

Children are welcome in the cafés. In the bars and in the evenings, alcohol is forbidden for people under 18 years old.

What's very local

Depending on the schedule, you'll try the café frappé (cold, to sip) during the day, and the local beers and wines in the evening. Sometimes you may also ask to smoke a hookah.

Kids

As in restaurants, they are welcome. Children are king and their noise level is very well tolerated!

Smokers

In the South, the ban on smoking inside establishments is rather strictly enforced. In the North, it is a little less so.

Tourist traps

Just watch out for the local wines, which can be expensive and can give you a headache!
