Astronomy

You can take a guided tour of the university's historic observatory. Built by architects Fellner & Helmer between 1874 and 1880, this building houses Austria's largest telescope, the 80 cm-diameter telescope housed under the north dome, and an exhibition on the history of astronomy. The observatory is dedicated to fundamental astronomical research, the study of galaxies and their formation, and the evolution of stars.

OBSERVATOIRE URANIA ET PLANÉTARIUM

Astronomy

The Vienna Planetarium has the most modern star projector in the world, which presents the night sky with remarkable realism during a wide variety of astronomical shows. It is located opposite the Urania Observatory which occupies a beautiful Art Nouveau style building. This domed observatory is open to the public for daytime observations of the Sun, or in the evening the Moon and planets for a fun introduction to astronomy.
