UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB) has just designated 10 new biosphere reserves in 9 countries and one transboundary biosphere reserve shared by 2 countries. As a reminder, biosphere reserves establish a development model that is more respectful of people and biodiversity. They include the Drömling Biosphere Reserve in Germany, the Tribugá-Cupica-Baudó Biosphere Reserve in Colombia and the Mount Elgon Transboundary Biosphere Reserve in Kenya and Uganda. The worldwide network now includes 748 sites in 134 countries, 23 of which are transboundary. For further information, click here.
