NOUVEL AN CHINOIS

The Chinese community being very important in French Polynesia, it is only logical that the Chinese New Year should be the occasion for great festivities. Bal, shows, parades of lions and tigers in multicoloured paper, kite flights, martial arts and culinary demonstrations: all the folklore of the Middle Kingdom is celebrated during a beautiful cultural day. In Papeete, the program begins with the official opening ceremony at City Hall; at the end of the day, a lantern walk closes the celebrations.
