This surfing competition, the most important in French Polynesia, is organized under the aegis of the World Surf League and is held every year in August in the hava'e pass in Teahupo'o. The Tahiti Pro Teahupo'o is a stage of the WCT (World Championship Tour). The strength of the waves and the shallowness of the reefs make it a feared and exciting event.
