JOUR DE L'AN CHINOIS

Chinese New Year is by far the biggest celebration of the year in Taiwan and all Chinese communities. We celebrate the first moon of the first month of the year (three holidays). When the Gregorian calendar was officially adopted, the term Spring Festival was commonly used to distinguish Chinese New Year from Western New Year. Chinese New Year's Day falls between January 21 and February 19. We gather with family and friends at large banquets where fireworks and firecrackers ward off evil spirits.
