Opened in 1937, Haji Ali sees himself as the very first fast food in Bombay. Of course, the place has changed much and today the shop has become a real reference address. We eat sandwiches, vegetarian hamburgers, pizzas, but the great specialty is fruit juice. Cool, drink without moderation, we tear them apart. The most requested are watermelons, mangoes, kiwi. The rates of fruit juice are too high (between 2 and 4 times as expensive as elsewhere).

Bombay Brasserie is a chain of restaurants that also has establishments in Bangalore, Chennai, and Kolkata. On the menu, Indian specialties revisited in a contemporary way but without ever falling into cliché. The presentation of the dishes is meticulous. As far as the cuisine is concerned, it is a success. Moreover the setting is airy, elegant and modern. It is good to linger on the covered terrace, sitting comfortably. In the evening you can also come and drink one of their delicious cocktails with friends. The latest trendy place in Worli.

The large room is very elegant. The map is varied with local specialties of course, but also from North India, China and some Western dishes. At noon you can choose the buffet or à la carte. Quality cuisine but service sometimes slow. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

This is the Hotel Nahar Coffee Bar. Lassis, fruit juices, different teas and snacks (sandwiches, masala dosas, cakes…). A pleasant place to take a break.

This imposing construction houses one of the oldest establishments in Ernakulam, serving healthy vegetarian Indian cuisine in a large air conditioned room with carefully decorated decoration. Thali can be chosen and crowned with giant sundae or milkshake.

Reasonable prices. An institution among Parsi cafes: Berry pulao, salli boti, patra ni machli, dhansak, curry rice... the choice is vast and everything is exceptionally good. Good child atmosphere, relaxed. Beer is served.

The small dining room is located near the hotel reception of the same name. It's nice and food is good, especially Western food. However, it's not a lot of money, so it's a bit expensive, because we're forced to order more. The presentation of the dishes is careful and the service is impeccable.

This coffee shop is part of a widespread franchise in India that offers espressos, cappuccinos, iced coffees, fruit juices and sodas, chocolate cakes, some sandwiches and samosas. The atmosphere is young, the music a bit loud as well as the air conditioning, some cafés have a small bookshop. There are about fifteen of them in Mumbai. From a practical point of view, they often have clean toilets, which is an information you should take into account during long walks...

Located in front of the Regal cinema, here is a good transalpine restaurant in a very cosy setting with a lot of woodwork. They serve very good pizzas and Italian dishes that are good. For meat lovers, they serve a very good filet mignon as well as various burgers, tacos... Breakfast is also available. The place is also a pub, so you can have a cold beer, a cocktail or a glass of wine. Attentive and courteous service. Another establishment is located in Bandra.

This restaurant is an institution in Mumbai! On the menu, the traditional cuisine of the Konkan coast and Mangalore. A very large choice of fish and seafood (crabs, lobsters, gambas, squids...) that can be tasted in an air-conditioned room or on an open air terrace. The service is impeccable and the food absolutely delicious; but, delicate palates, beware: it is often very spicy! A bottle of chilled Sula Chenin Blanc will be the perfect accompaniment to the fish specialties. Reservations are recommended.

In the same street as the Residency Hotel, in the heart of Fort, here is a small Parsi café recommended for a typical lunch at a low price. The setting is very pleasant and has kept its authenticity. The dishes offered vary every day of the week. The Parsi specialities with mutton or chicken, and notably the famous Dhanshak, are available all week long. You can also come and have a good breakfast (cheese omelette), accompanied by a fresh juice (carrot, watermelon, orange...). Excellent value for money.

This is a great place to enjoy tandoori kebabs (Chicken Tikka, Reshmi Kabab, Malai Kabab, Fish Tikka) or traditional North Indian dishes. This restaurant is famous for its excellent biryani. Another specialty of the place is the famous Butter Chicken. Great choice of vegetarian dishes, fish, shrimps, chicken, mutton... Don't hesitate to ask the waiter if you want your dishes not too spicy. The decoration of the restaurant is sober but successful. The food is good, the service efficient and the atmosphere very pleasant

Located just across from Chowpatty, on Marine Drive, this small unpretentious establishment is the ideal place to take a break, have a snack and a cold beer. And why not try the specialty of the place, the Iranian coffee. The waiters are friendly and give good advice to choose a dish. The atmosphere is relaxed, a juke-box plays rock classics from the 1980s or Bollywood classics, and the TV broadcasts sports events, mostly cricket matches. In the evening the place fills up quickly.

This Chittoor Road establishment was a Ernakulam classic until its closure. Its reopening in Ravipuram has delighted non-veg food aficionados. Sheep, beef, chicken and some vegetarian dishes are on the menu. Very affordable prices.

It is part of the Hotel Sudarsan. This air-conditioned restaurant is renowned for serving the best South Indian cuisine. The dishes are explained in English, which facilitates understanding of the map. The specialities of Kerala are good. You can also opt for continental, sizzlers or spaghetti dishes. The service is efficient, but not very smiling. Located near the hotel's reception, a tea lounge offers hot and cold drinks, Indian snacks and sandwiches.

This is the best place to enjoy a poori in Trivandrum. A wide variety of curries is available at a more than honest price and the dishes are very rich. An address where vegetarians will discover the full range of Indian flavours.

Close to Girgaon Chowpatty, Canto is a modern, chic and airy cafe, offering a varied and quality cuisine. The modern, European-inspired decor is elegant, and large windows give the room a nice amount of light. The menu offers Italian, Mediterranean and Mexican specialties. The place is quiet during the day, ideal for a break between visits. In the evening the bar comes alive, especially on Saturdays when Canto hosts a DJ playing the latest Bollywood hits

This vegetarian canteen is very popular! One of the best places in Colaba for small budgets, but not that! It is an opportunity to taste the Pav Bhaji (bread and masala of legumes), Bhel Puri and other Masala Dosa. Fresh fruit juice available. 

This modern Asian bistro, as it defines itself, is a modern-chic establishment frequented by Mumbai's golden youth, offering the latest Asian fusion cuisine. The dishes are beautifully crafted and look like they were created specifically for posting on Instagram. This new cuisine has its supporters and detractors, but it's clear that it's divinely good! The whole thing is still a bit pompous and the dishes, as you might expect, are not hearty. A place to be reserved for the curious and the foodies.

Khyber is a particularly popular restaurant and is appreciated by tourists and locals alike. The dishes cooked in the tandoor (traditional Indian oven) are particularly good, especially the Tandoori Chicken or the Tandoori Lamb Chop. Several vegetarian options are also on the menu. Alcohol, cocktails and wine are also served. The decor is authentically Indian, with frescoes by Anjolie Ela Menon, one of the country's most famous painters. Reservations are recommended.

This new establishment serves excellent traditional and international cuisine, all without MSG. The menu offers several rather spicy dishes, so be sure to ask for "non-spicy" if you are uncomfortable with spiciness. Large selection of seafood. Prefer local specialties, better cooked than international dishes. Air-conditioned or not. By far the best restaurant on Mahé, an excellent choice if you are in town for a quick visit. A tea shop and a small ice cream shop are located at the entrance, for dessert.

A real French crêperie in the heart ofof Bombay! A cosy address, created in April 2011 by three Frenchies. Pancakes, sweet and savory, including the inevitable chocolate pancake, but also salads, omelettes, brunches, real Arabica, many flavors of tea... You can also compose your own pancake or salad recipe. The establishment is small and well hidden, don't hesitate to ask the locals who know the place! A second establishment is located in the fashionable district of Pali Naka, in Bandra.

Adjacent to the charming Fateh's Retreat guest house, Fateh's Café has quickly become a haunt for budding and seasoned naturalists alike. In a beautiful, stylish house overlooking a garden, people come here at all hours to share their latest information on the tiger: where was it seen? when was it seen? in which direction did it move? This is the Shanti home restaurant on the top floor with a panoramic view of the city. It is tastefully arranged (seesaws, small tables delicately set, sofas) and you will taste the spécialites of northern India cooked in front of you (here everything is fresh and of excellent quality). In the evening, a multitude of candles will accompany your head-to-head. Romantic atmosphere to wish! Beautiful wine card and impeccable service.

On the main road, close to the park's central entrance, this dhaba serves tasty assamais and northern Indian thalis (chicken, fish). Good value for money.

The locals crowd around to get a seat, which is always a good sign! It is the ideal place to taste some excellent local specialties: beef or chicken biryani , Kerala parothas, chicken malabari, fish curry...You can choose a room among the 3 floors, but only the last one is air-conditioned (for a small extra charge).

Ramees is one of the best and most popular restaurants in Kollam. In a contemporary and highly air-conditioned setting, you will of course taste the succulent specialties of the state, such as meen pollichathu, a fish cooked with its preparation in a banana leaf, mutton curry (lamb curry) or beef bellary (beef fried in its spices with vegetables). The menu offers a wide range of dishes. The biryanis are also successful. A warmly recommended place to taste authentic Kerala cuisine.

This establishment belongs to a well known chain of traditional Kerala restaurants. There are 54 of them in Kerala, 10 of which are in the Ernakulam district. The peculiarity of Indian Coffee House is that all the employees are also owners and thus share the profits. The waiters have a white uniform with fans as hats. The prices are very reasonable and the food is of good quality, especially the chicken curries and the Kerala parothas. A popular place and assiduously frequented by the locals.

A restaurant that offers all the essentials of Italian cuisine, the prices are a little higher than in an Indian restaurant but the quality is there. The menu is varied and offers soups, salads, fried squid fritters, chicken steaks, risotto, lasagna, pasta, pizzas and also burgers and sandwiches. The proportions are generous. On the drinks side, there is a wide range of mocktails, fresh fruit juices and hot drinks. This is the best Mediterranean specialty restaurant in town.

This restaurant at the Taj Green Cove Resort, the most luxurious establishment in the area, offers an excellent buffet at affordable prices on Saturdays and Sundays. On the menu: fish, squid and meat grilled in front of you and to your liking, several Indian and international appetizers and dishes, as well as a wide selection of desserts to end your meal on a sweet note. If you feel like having a chic little dinner in a romantic atmosphere, by the side of a beautiful pool, let yourself be tempted. You can dine à la carte on all other nights.

The Azad branch of establishments is famous in Kerala for its very good food offered at low prices. The room is not very charming but is nevertheless clean. On the menu, biryanis (with beef, chicken or lamb), dishes in sauce, excellent Kerala parothas, vegetarian dishes, specialities of the day on the board... However, the service is not the most impeccable and there is no parking at the disposal of the customers.

The place is very pleasant with a sober but warm decoration. You will have the choice between nearly a hundred dishes! The restaurant serves an excellent Kerala Thali for lunch. Also on the menu are curries, Kerala specialties, noodles... Several options are available: vegetarian, chicken, beef, pork, fish... Opened in 2012 by Edouard, the place, with its roof of dried palm leaves, invites to relax and laze around. Directly overlooking Cherai beach, you can rent deckchairs or umbrellas. In a relaxed atmosphere, you can enjoy European cuisine: breakfasts, pizzas, burgers, salads, pancakes but also beef steaks, grilled fish, etc. They also serve a real espresso. If you come to Vypeen to enjoy the beach for the day or more, we highly recommend a stop!

This is the restaurant of the Allepey Prince Hotel. Rustic tables in a long dining room overlooking the pool: it is definitely a very pleasant restaurant with an old-fashioned atmosphere. The room is air-conditioned. The menu is varied (Indian, Chinese and continental cuisine). The Kerala specialties are to be preferred: the fish cooked in a banana leaf(meen pollichattu) according to the traditional recipe is delicious, as well as all the fish and seafood recipes. A bit out of the way but excellent value for money.

Here is a restaurant that serves authentic and popular cuisine only a few dishes from the colonial streets of Fort Kochi. A small dark place with a canteen atmosphere in an alley away from the Muslim quarter of Mattancherry, but famous for its excellent biryani. On the menu chicken or lamb biryani, but also curries, grilled meat, fried fish, omelets, parothas, thalis... The prices are very low and the locals flock there... Often crowded, be prepared to wait a little... but it's worth it!

Opened in 2018, this small café set below the fort is a real success story. Ignore the tiny room on the first floor to take shelter under the covered terrace upstairs. The setting is eclectic, messy and colorful just like the owner. Many backpackers find refuge here for a solid breakfast, a coffee, the time to write their logbook, or a meal before jumping on a bus or a train for their next destination. The service is a bit nonchalant, so it's better not to be in a hurry.

You just have to go up the street on the left from the main square at the top of the fort to find this little restaurant. It is located just after the long wall of the Rani Mahal, the palace of the Queens. Its colorful front, painted in the colors of Tibetan prayer flags, invites to spend a happy moment. The room, a little dark and sad, is to be left behind. You have to climb the two floors to the tiny terrace to enjoy the view on the old palace of Jaisalmer and a meal with momos, the Tibetan ravioli.

Originally, Karim's is a restaurant in the Muslim quarter of Old Delhi. It is famous for its Mughal cuisine, tandoor chicken and kebabs. While the Delhi address is particularly popular, the Jaipur address is showing some gentrification. The restaurant is located in one of the chic and residential areas of the capital of Rajasthan. The stone and wood setting is elegant. Armchairs and almond green benches break somewhat the monotony. You will find on the menu the specialties that made the reputation of the sign.

Daryaganj claims credit for butter chicken and dal makhani, two iconic specialties of Indian cuisine. The restaurant was originally founded in the Daryaganj district of Delhi, which was home to a large number of refugees fleeing Pakistan at the time of the partition of the country in 1947. Kundan Lal Jaggi was one of them and imported to Delhi his culinary knowledge inherited from the great Mughal tradition in Peshawar, where he was originally from. Daryaganj has several shops in town, which belong to the descendants of Lal Jaggi.

Khan Market is becoming increasingly gentrified and is probably one of the most expensive areas in Delhi for trendy restaurants. Di Ghent is part of this trend, with oh! surprise! a Belgian-inspired bobo café. You can come and enjoy waffles and fries (if you feel nostalgic for the country), but also expensive sandwiches and salads. Fortunately, the result is quite convincing, with sourced and organic products (of course), iced teas and refreshing fruit or citrus drinks.

In a quiet street in the trendy Hauz Khas district, this sandwich shop is a credit to the place. You can enjoy big grilled sandwiches or fresh bread with crunchy vegetables and steaming meats. We are closer to the American concept than to the ham and butter, which probably explains the rather high prices. The room is small and decorated with very contemporary paintings. The service, pressed by the crowd, is often overwhelmed. You can also enjoy delicious coffees and espressos prepared by the trendy Blue Tokai Coffee Roaster.

Salt modestly claims to be the best restaurant in Agra, which does not necessarily correspond to reality. The menu features some of the most popular Indian and Tibetan dishes, revisited in a fusion style. The momos cooked in the tandoor turned out to be disappointing as well as the chicken afghani, too dry. On the other hand, the restaurant's terrace, on the top floor, is very nice for a drink. It is huge and the tables are far enough from each other not to take advantage of the neighbors.

The Rice Boat, one of the restaurants of the Taj Malabar, is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in Kochi to taste fish and seafood. The menu is varied, with Kerala and international recipes. The atmosphere of the place is chic and pleasant. You can choose to sit inside long rice boats(kettuvallam). As in all 5-star restaurants in Kerala, they also serve alcohol, wine and beer. Courteous service. Services (and prices) in line with the reputation of the Taj group.

Close to the train station, this is the most original restaurant in this chain of employee-run restaurants. The establishment is located in a tower designed by architect Laurie Baker. There are no rooms, only a large spiral corridor around which tables are set up. Besides the architectural curiosity, it is a good place to enjoy very good biryani and chicken curry dishes at low prices. There are other establishments of the chain in Trivandrum, notably on M.G. Road.

If you are looking for a rather young atmosphere in a rather nice setting, this is the place to go! The decoration is very successful with several dreamcatchers hung here and there, including a rather large one announcing the restaurant along the promenade. The restaurant is now installed on the^1st floor and benefits from a huge terrace with a superb panorama. The food is similar to the other establishments, but the prices are much higher: seafood, Indian dishes, Tibetan recipes, sandwiches, burgers...

This establishment is well worth a visit! In a modern and elegant setting, the "Thalassery kitchen" offers a range of specialties from the Malabar coast executed in the rules of art, as well as wood-fired grills, salads, soups... This traditional cuisine with its authentic flavors is very popular with the inhabitants of the city and this restaurant has quickly become one of the places not to be missed in Kochi. Formulas for lunch. The dishes are neat and the service is very professional. Recommended.

This hotel has an excellent restaurant that serves very good Kerala and South Indian cuisine, as well as specialties cooked in the tandoor (chicken, fish, naan). The thali (vegetarian) at lunchtime is particularly hearty but you can also add a little fish curry or khuntai roast (grilled squid). The service is fast. The place is very popular and the room is quickly crowded at lunch time. You can also choose the air-conditioned room for a small extra charge. A great value!

Once a sure thing on the cliff, Café del Mar has succumbed to the temptation of increasing its prices considerably to take advantage of the influx of local tourists on weekends. It still offers a varied menu where Indian and Western cuisine, pizzas, sandwiches, various breakfast formulas, pastries and other desserts are mixed. The quality has certainly dropped but the establishment remains pleasant, especially since the service is courteous and fast. Lounge music lulls you while you contemplate the panorama.

One of the oldest and most popular restaurants in the city. After climbing the stairs you enter a spacious and pleasant room. On the menu are South Indian specialties, very good masala dosas, idlys and of course excellent thalis available in several recipes (vegetarian, chicken, fish). Also on the menu are biryanis, kathi rolls, grilled fish, beef dishes... The traditional Kerala recipes are to be preferred because they are particularly tasty. Fast and courteous service.
