Mauritius being one of the world's great big game fishing spots, it hosts every year several competitions including this one, the most highly rated as it qualifies for the IGFA Offshore World Championship - the biggest offshore fishing tournament in the world. Open to both pros and passionate amateurs, it is held over several days in January, at the height of the marlin season and off the coast of Black River in the west, where the fishing conditions are the best.
