Practical information : Going out Qatar
Timetable
There are very few clubs or discos as such - Doha isn't Dubai! Opening hours vary, but generally people go out after 10pm, and all nightclubs close at 2am.
To be booked
It's best to reserve a table in clubs or bars open at night, as places are scarce and some are even reserved for members only, or open to non-members on certain evenings.
Night transport
Uber and cabs arrive within minutes at night and are really affordable, no problem getting around at night.
Age restrictions
The legal age for entering clubs is 21, as is the consumption of alcohol, and you should know that if you don't have your passport with you, you won't get in, reservation or not. Expatriates, as well as locals and tourists, are tracked in nightlife venues, a sensitive subject for the Emirate, which tolerates the consumption of alcohol and floor dancing (without wild wiggling, otherwise a bouncer will come and reframe you) in dedicated clubs within certain hotels only. No advanced drunkenness tolerated either.
What's very local
The dress code is elegant, no flip-flops and shorts, but these are the only places where you can arrive in a tight dress with rhinestones and stilettos.
Smokers
Smoking is permitted both inside the clubs and on the terraces. There are even many cigar bars where you can sip a whisky or a fine rum with a large cigar. These places are typically masculine and popular with business travellers.
