So if you want to get to the touristy town of Moalboal, to Argao (from where ferries leave for Bohol) or to the southern tip and town of Bato (ferry junction with the island of Negros), this is the place to be. Fares vary according to the standard of the bus. Finally, by cab, count PHP 600 and 45 minutes to/from Mactan airport and PHP 200 and 15 minutes to/from the north terminal.
SM NORTH BUS TERMINAL
Read moreThis is the north terminal of the bus station, opposite the SM City mall (cabs know it). There's no signposting for the uninitiated traveller, but don't panic... just tell a driver your destination and he'll tell you which bus to catch. You pay on the bus (bring change). Departures for Danao (where boats leave for Camotes), Maya (for Malapascua) and Hagnaya (for Bantayan), among others. Leave well in advance if you need to catch a boat, as traffic jams in Cebu can be monstrous.

It is essential to use only official cab companies (they are usually yellow or white) and to ask the driver to set the meter(metered) before the trip to avoid unpleasant surprises. If the driver refuses to set the meter or to announce the price in advance, do not hesitate to get out of the car or to take a picture of the cab's plate and number. Payment is made in cash and it is good practice to leave your change.
GRAND CENTRAL TERMINAL
Read moreMinibus station located in front of the huge SM City shopping mall. The vans serve the towns of the Bicol region (Naga, Donsol, Pilar, Tabaco...) and leave when they are full (about 12-15 people). Sometimes you can wait a long time, that's part of the experience. Anyway, don't hesitate to announce yourself to any driver of the terminal and tell him where you are going, sometimes a bus going to another city will pass by your destination. Count for example about 1h30 from Legazpi to Donsol (120 PHP).
GRAB

A must.
TRICYCLES DE MANILLE
Read moreAs in the rest of the archipelago, it is one of the most used and convenient means of transportation to travel short distances in the capital at a very low cost. For a global overview you should count 1h-1h30. If you speak English, it's a nice way to discover the historical heart.
CODA LINES BUS
Read moreCompany in particular for the night journeys towards Banaue and the rice fields. The Quezon train station is not very pleasant but it is always crowded so there is no security concern, the cabs know it well. Be there at least 30 minutes in advance. There are buses with and without toilets, so don't drink too much; take something to cover yourself with because the air conditioning is sometimes VERY loud; also take earplugs (the driver can leave his music on loud during the whole trip... an original concept for a night bus). Very random schedules, be patient.
