Read moreThis beautiful Baroque style residence was built at the end of the 18th century by the Counts of San Mateo Valparaiso as a dowry for their daughter. A few years later, this residence became the residence of Agustín Iturbide, a soldier who played an important role in Mexico's independence and was proclaimed emperor under the name of Agustín I in 1822. Today, the building is occupied by the Banamex Foundation, which has opened historic rooms on the first floor, while hosting top-level temporary exhibitions on the ground floor.
