The Azerbaijani side covers the longest period, since it begins in the Millennium life before our age, presenting some pieces from archaeological excavations. Then you go to the ceramics of the Middle Ages, then to bronze and copper objects from the th till the th century, before coming to the miniatures that peaked at Tabriz in the th century. Carpets are, of course, at the honor of this museum, since they have long been one of the only supporters of Azerbaijani artistic expression.

Read moreIt traces the history of local crafts, but its interest is very limited since the craftsmen are still active and enough to walk in the streets of the village to watch them work. Chaudronniers are best represented in Lahij today, and all are happy to have their workshop visited (hoping, of course, selling some parts in the passage). Some old women have installed small stands on the street where they sell copper objects and scarves whose motives are made by hand.

In fact, these are underground pockets of methane, which go back to the surface: Shot accidentally in 1958, the flames have never gone off since! Attraction is very popular in winter when the flames seem to emerge from snow. By bypassing the flames, you can climb up the hill, which offers a beautiful view of the peninsula, to the sea.
