FÊTE DE L'INDÉPENDANCE

Honduras obtained its independence (vis-à-vis Spain) on 15 September 1821. The date is a holiday. It is celebrated by parades of schoolchildren and military personnel across all towns and villages across the country. The national flag remains on all public buildings, schools and colleges throughout the month of Fiestas Patrias (in September).
