Laos : What budget to travel? Money and currency
In Laos, it is becoming difficult to find cheap accommodation but comfort remains below international standards, prices are increasing rapidly due to the development of tourism, inflation and the rise in the price of oil, which is reflected in the cost of transport. The currency is the kip but Thai baths and US dollars are accepted. Currency exchange and bank withdrawals are easy in town. Payments are made in cash. Tipping is not customary except in large restaurants.

In every city you will find a wide variety of massage parlours, from the most rudimentary to the luxury spa. Each city also has a sauna, the Red Cross ones are recommended.

The night markets, or night markets, offer a cheap evening meal, often with a wide range of dishes. The small restaurants frequented by locals are often cheap as well, but you will have to choose a dish "blind" or by showing a photo of the menu, as it is only rarely translated into English. Payment can be made in cash in small establishments and by credit card in more expensive ones.
The prices for an espresso or cappuccino type coffee in the major stores in the big cities are more or less the same as in France. Prices are significantly lower in street stands or some small shops.

Guesthouse means guesthouse but in the country this word has a much broader meaning. Most often a favourite meeting place for travellers on a tight budget, these establishments offer a variety of even cheaper forms of accommodation. You can find anything and everything in this category. There is a clear difference in price between rooms with ventilation - " Fan " - or air conditioning - " A/C - Air Condition " - with or without TV. Visit the room before settling down of course, especially the douches ! Dormitories are a good option for backpackers, and it's the perfect place to meet fellow travellers!
