MARE D'OURSI
Read moreClassified as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, the Mare mare has more than 200 species (ducks, migrating, wading). It has an ecological monitoring of the Naturama Foundation, which acts for the conservation of nature within society. Unfortunately, this site is suffering and risks silting due to climate change (decline in rainfall) but also uncontrolled fishing, overgrazing and gardening. December and January are the best for Bird Watching. Among them, the couronnée crane is certainly the most majestic and has been chosen as the emblem of the Naturama Foundation.
DEM LAKE
Read moreApproximately twenty kilometers from the city (through a fair path, possible with a city car), the Lake of Dem is formed by a wide water restraint on the river, which arouse the region and brings the population of the 14 surrounding villages. This beautiful lake is surrounded by numerous gardens and a vegetation that tramples with the drought of the region. Several dozen species of birds, including pines, accompany the herds of zébus that come here to relax during the day. This site is unfortunately a victim of its success, and is threatened by the enslavement of human activities: so it lost 40% of these capabilities. The water agency is trying to change mentalities, but some bad practices have hard skin! It is possible to walk on the lake and access it in a canoe (check with your hotel).

TWO-BALÉ NATIONAL PARK
Read moreAfter being managed by a private body, whose objective was the conservation of the natural heritage of the Dibon and the Deux Team forests, this concession was taken up by the National Office for Protected Areas (OFINAP). Quite degraded by poaching, bush fires and overgrazing, this park is especially remarkable for its elephant population. However, its 90 000 hectares are not enough for pachyderms who often come out of these limits to go to the nearby forests of Baporo, Sorobouli and others along the Mouhoun river. In dry times, from December to April, it is often possible to observe them. In rainy times, however, nobody really knows where they are. Migration hypotheses between Nazinga and these forests are being issued, but no scientific research has been carried out on the subject. Until 2011, for the traveller, the main Access to the Deux Team Park is located just before the Campement camp (works during our passage, but we could restore it).
