Each year, the Awake Feast, the goddess of the lake, brings together the inhabitants of the surrounding villages on the shores of Lake Ahémé. It reduces the weight of the difficulties, suffering and grievances experienced during the year. A ceremony of reversal of roles, she is the ancestor of the South American carnival whose rhythms and dances, transmitted by slaves, continue today in Brazil, Haiti, Trinidad, etc….
