ACTIF SANTE
Read moreAsset Health is a national network of people living with HIV or the hepatitis virus. Its philosophy is to mobilise patients by helping them out of isolation, applying the Denver Declaration (which argues that people infected must be respected, consulted and involved in decisions affecting them), by promoting peer education, because experience of life with the virus acquires "expertise"; information on treatments, side effects and therapeutic research. Its role is also to accompany patients in the search for a better quality of life. To do this, the association organizes two types of hotlines: therapeutic strategists to exchange information about treatments, hygiene, nutrition, etc., and access hotlines to social rights, so that everyone knows their rights and can find themselves in the maze of administrative approaches. The association also maintains forums and hosts frequent spaces of conviviality aimed at revitalizing people suffering from it. An exchange group around the theme «Living with» has been set up. Carers and care can meet outside consultations; this is one of many examples of the principle of direct democracy that it defends.
