Day 1

Towards Plage des Pêcheurs

You begin your trip to tropical Negombo. This beautiful seaside resort close to the airport is renowned for its fish market and numerous churches, which have earned it the nickname "Little Rome". Take the Dutch Canal through the heart of the city, once used by traders. Stroll through the town, see the decorated boats and enjoy a magnificent sunset. After settling into your room, relax by the pool. Dinner included.

Day 2

Route to the Cultural Triangle

On the way between Negombo and the Cultural Triangle, discover the different aspects of the town of Kurunegala. Climb the famous Kurunegala Rock, visit a coconut plantation or stroll around the man-made lake. For the more curious, be sure to interact with the locals in the markets. You can also take the time to learn more about the region's history during your visit to the archaeology museum. Return to your hotel in Dambulla, where you'll spend the next few days. Dinner included. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner at leisure.

Day 3

Nature, Cuisine and History

Venture to the famous archaeological site of Sigiriya. Over 200 meters high, the Lion Rock is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From natural caves and gardens to the ruins of the Kasyapa palace, visit this iconic site and enjoy sunrise or sunset from this breathtaking vantage point. Or climb Pidurangala Hill and enjoy its magnificent view of Lion Rock and Minneriya Nature Park. You'll also discover ruined monasteries, Buddha statues and caves. Continue the day with a cooking class. With Shani's help, you'll head off to her vegetable garden, before getting down to work and concocting an authentic Rice and Curry, a dish typical of the country.

Day 4

Rice paddies and ancient cities

Cycle through the rice fields of Polonnaruwa and meet the locals to share their daily lives. Visit a coconut factory, a bakery or a broom factory, before donning your traditional hat and working alongside the farmers. Then enjoy a refreshing dip in the canal. A colorful lunch awaits you under a thatched roof, before continuing on to the rice mill. End your day with a visit to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, its ruins and famous Buddha statues. The more adventurous can continue their tour by bike!

Day 5

Caves and Spice Garden

Discover the hilltop Buddhist caves, a UNESCO-listed site. Discover murals and Buddha statues in a maze of 5 caves, and enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding area. A few steps away, stroll through the Dambulla wholesale market, and see the variety of products the country has to offer. Finally, reach Matale, on the main road between Dambulla and the town of Kandy, and stop to discover its spice garden and Batik factory, where you can admire the diversity of patterns and colors. Afterwards, return to your hotel in Kandy town.

Day 6

The Last Royal Capital

Visit the island's last royal capital, Kandy. Temple of the Tooth, giant Buddha statue, vegetable market, lake... explore the city center on foot. You can attend one of three ceremonies at the Temple of the Tooth. In the afternoon, hop aboard a tuk-tuk for a 4-hour tour, and enjoy an experience rich in discoveries, between must-see and unusual places. With your guide, learn more about this ancient capital and its local culture. At the end of the day, enjoy a traditional dance performance.

Day 7

Garden and Nuwara Eliya

Take a stroll through the Peradeniya Garden, south of Kandy. This garden on the banks of the Mahaweli River is one of the most famous in the world, with some 4,000 plant species spread over more than 60 hectares. With its royal palms, orchid collection and multicolored flowerbeds, it's sure to delight the eye. On the way to Nuwara Eliya, stop to admire the Ramboda Falls, before continuing on your way. Arrive in Nuwara Eliya, the country's highest town! Also known as "Little England", it retains its British charm. Enjoy the mild temperatures and the magnificent views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. You finish your day by returning to your hotel in Bandarawela.

Day 8

Tea Plantations and Train Journey

Hike through the region's vegetable gardens and tea plantations. Enjoy beautiful panoramic views over the valleys, and visit a tea factory to learn more about this national beverage. Climb to the top of the mountain before descending to Haputale, where you'll reach the famous Lipton Seat and admire the land overflowing with tea trees. Taste this famous beverage, and continue on your way before boarding a train to your hotel.

Day 9

Safari in Udawalawe

Climb to the summit of Little Adam's Peak, offering unparalleled views of Ella and the surrounding area. Then hit the road for a stop at the beautiful Rawana Falls. Let yourself be tempted by a dip! In the afternoon, embark on a jeep safari in Udawalawe National Park. Elephants, birds, bears, monitor lizards, even leopards if you're lucky, enjoy the diversity of wildlife and live an unforgettable experience, all the while benefiting from the detailed explanations of your naturalist guide.

Day 10

Meeting with Elephanteaux and Côte Sud

In the morning, meet orphaned elephant calves at the Elephant Transit Home rehabilitation center and watch as volunteers feed them. After a few years, the aim is to release these elephants back into their natural environment, so limiting contact with humans is essential. Leave the center and head for the west coast. On the way, stop off at Cape Dondra, home to Southeast Asia's largest lighthouse. Then enter the town of Matara, pass through its uniquely shaped fort and finally reach the beach. Once you've skirted the south coast, your day ends in the village of Unawatuna.

Day 11

Spa and Visit of Galle

A few minutes from Unawatuna, visit Galle Fort, to explore its ramparts and see the town's iconic lighthouse. Afternoon at leisure to relax.

Day 12

Visit the Economic Capital

This morning, cycle through the rice fields, cross the bird sanctuary and refresh yourself with a delicious King Coconut. The ride ends peacefully. You're back on the road, heading for Colombo, the economic capital in the west of the country. Here, you'll discover the capital's many attractions, including the Pettah district, its mosque and the City Hall district. Take a stroll around Beira Lake, and enjoy the Gangaramaya Buddhist temple and the view of the Lotus Tower. Visit the Galle Face Green at the end of the day to enjoy the magnificent sunset.

Day 13

End of stay... On the road to France
