Manu National Park 4 Days / 3 Nights

Manu National Park - Biodiversity treasure in the heart of Amazonia

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Manu National Park is one of Peru's most emblematic nature reserves. Situated between the Andes foothills and the Amazon rainforest, this nature sanctuary protects one of the richest and most diverse biospheres on the planet.

Covering almost 1.7 million hectares, the park is home to an incredible variety of flora and fauna, with over 500,000 species recorded, some of them endemic. It is also home to several indigenous communities who live in harmony with their ancestral environment.

Manu is home to the Cocha Cashu Biological Station, an internationally renowned research center dedicated to the study of tropical ecosystems. Thanks to its exceptional biodiversity and isolation, the park is a must-see destination for nature, photography and ecotourism enthusiasts.

DAY 01: Cuzco - Bambu Lodge

Steps: Cusco

Early in the morning, pick-up from your hotel in Cusco, to begin our journey through the Andes mountains, beautiful landscapes, folkloric rural communities such as Paucartambo and Ninamarca (chullpas or burial tombs) that belong to the pre-Inca LUPACAS culture. We then reach the last mountain of Acjanaco, the entrance to MANU NATIONAL PARK, from where we descend to the lush cloud forest, home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. This is an ideal spot for epiphytes, orchids, bromeliads and more. We'll have a picnic lunch, then walk along an inka trail that belonged to the antisuyo.

Then we'll continue exploring the cloud forest and enjoy Peru's national bird, the colorful Rock Rooster in its courtship ritual, as well as toucans, trogons, quetzals and monkeys. We may also see the South American spectacled bear (Tremantus ornatos).

Continuing our tour, we head for Patria, a small village in the Amazon, and arrive at our first lodge. Finally, we'll have dinner and free time to enjoy cold drinks and then spend the night in our comfortable rooms.

DAY 02: Bambu lodge - Shintuya hot springs

Steps: Parque Nacional Del Manú

In the morning, we wake up to birdsong and the sounds of the Amazon jungle, then it's time to have breakfast and set off to explore this incredible, dense Amazon jungle, followed by a visit to the hummingbird garden and animal sanctuary (OPTIONAL RAFTING IN THE ALTO MADRE DE DIOS RIVER).

later, we'll arrive at the port of Atalaya, where we'll board our motorboat to navigate the Alto Madre de Dios River, visiting Lake Machuwasi on the way, and using binoculars to observe a wide variety of birds such as herons, ducks, hoatzins, orioles, as well as families of capybaras (the world's largest rodent).

We'll continue by boat for 2 hours until we reach our second camp, where we'll find the medicinal thermal pool in the middle of nature. After dinner, we'll take part in a nocturnal caiman search, and finally spend the night at the lodge.

DAY 03: Shintuya hot springs - Atalaya Lodge

Steps: Parque Nacional Del Manú

We leave early in the morning by boat to La Collpa de perroquet, 20 minutes from the Camp. Watch exotic parrots and blue-headed macaws. The spectacle is impressive both visually and aurally, then we return to the lodge for breakfast. Following this, we take a walk to the waterfall (Amaru Mayu), where we can observe a variety of local monkeys, birds and medicinal plants.

After lunch, we'll board the boat that will take us back along the river to our next camp. To get to the lodge, we'll pass through plantations of fruits and vegetables, such as mandarins, lemons, bananas, yucca, cocoa, avocado, jungle bread and chirimolla. We can sample some of these fruits before finally reaching our comfortable rooms, with free time at night to stalk tapirs, tarantulas and snakes.

DAY 04: Atalaya Lodge - Cusco

Steps: Parque Nacional Del Manú

After breakfast, we cross the river in the boat where our tourist transport awaits, taking us to the imperial city of Cusco, again crossing the cloud forest, enjoying all the species of the region.

Estimated time of arrival in the city 17:00.
