A nature weekend among birds and ponds

To fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere, there's nothing better than staying at Domaine de la Dombes!

This little corner of paradise, ideally located just 1 hour from the hustle and bustle of Lyon, offers you a unique experience, in a floating cabin, perched in the trees or surrounded by animals!

A variety of original activities are available, including :

• Escape Quest: join forces as a family to solve the riddles of this escape game in the heart of nature, where everyone learns while having fun, and the opportunity to discover the beauty of the Domaine and the variety of its eight animal parks!

• The accrobranche: for children who are always resourceful, they can let off steam on the Domaine's private accrobranche. Let your "little chimpanzees " have a go, while you, the parents, take time out to walk around the pond and enjoy the absolute calm that reigns in this magnificent green setting.
  

Just what you need for a busy first day !

On this second day, you can explore the cultural and natural heritage of the Dombes region.

Start by trying out the "La Dombes se dessine" drawing course, open to all, even beginners. Orianne Amiot (drawing teacher) will meet you at the Etang Prêle in Valeins, in a bucolic atmosphere, to teach you how to "sketch on paper" a landscape and a bird using dry pastel.

After this morning in the fresh air, your appetite will begin to grow, and this will be the opportunity to treat yourself to lunch at La Gourmandine, on the banks of the Chalaronne.

Once your belly is full, take a tour of the historic center, and for those with a sweet tooth (for a snack), take the time to discover the chocolate creations of Vincent Durant (Meilleur Ouvrier de France) - you won't be disappointed!

Already the third and last day! Time flies!

To round off this Dombes escapade in style, we're off to the Parc des Oiseaux de Villars-les-Dombes.

This nature reserve boasts a "collection" of over 2,500 species of birds from all over the world. Everything has been designed with care and attention to ensure an unforgettable family day out.

Children will love the Pantanal aviary, with its explosion of color and magnificent blue macaws , as well as the Valley of Birds of Prey . At the end of the day, at 3.30pm, you won't want to miss the park's star attraction: the Birds in Flight show!

This ballet of exotic birds will amaze young and old alike for some thirty minutes, with a spellbinding choreography full of color.

You'll end your trip with stars (and feathers!) in your eyes, guaranteed!
