Day 1

Pick-up, tour of Kigali & transfer to hotel

Depending on your arrival time at the airport, our English/French-speaking staff/guide will pick you up at the airport. Afterwards, you'll set off on a tour of Kigali, where you'll have the opportunity to discover various sites such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Kigali's largest local market, Kimironko, the Nyamirambo district where Kigali was born, and other places of interest to travelers. After the tour, your Lion Safaris driver-guide will take you to one of the city's best restaurants for lunch. You will then be taken to your hotel, where you will check in for dinner and overnight.

Transfer to Akagera National Park

Steps: Parc National De L'Akagera

In the morning, after breakfast, your driver-guide will pick you up and take you to Rwanda's Eastern Province, where Akagera National Park is located. On arrival, you'll check in at the park reception desk, then continue on to your hotel for lunch. Afterwards, the driver-guide will take you on a safari in the southern part of the park, where you can observe animals such as zebra, antelope, buffalo, birds and more. Next, you'll enjoy a cruise on Lake Ihema, the park's largest lake, for a sunset walk, where you can see hippos, crocodiles and a wide variety of water birds. After this experience, you'll be taken to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Full-day safari in Akagera National Park

Steps: Parc National De L'Akagera

After breakfast at your lodge, the driver-guide will pick you up to take you on a full-day safari in Akagera Park. You'll have the opportunity to observe a wide range of wildlife, including giraffe, elephant, lion, buffalo, antelope, birds, zebra and much more. During the safari, the driver-guide will show you the best place to have lunch. After lunch, you'll continue your tour and return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Steps: Parc National Des Volcans

In the morning, after a late breakfast, you'll check out and be picked up by your driver-guide, who will take you to Rwanda's North-Western Province, via Kigali, to Volcanoes National Park. On arrival in Kigali, you'll take a lunch break before resuming your journey to Volcanoes National Park. On arrival, check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Gorilla trekking

Steps: Parc National Des Volcans

In the morning, after an early breakfast, with your lunch prepared by the lodge, the driver-guide will pick you up to take you to the park office for check-in and a briefing on the rules to follow when encountering gorillas in their natural habitat. You will then be driven to the Volcanoes Park boundary, where you will trek with a local guide to meet the gorillas. On arrival at the gorilla family, you'll have the opportunity to observe them and take photos. After this unforgettable experience, you'll return to your driver who will take you back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Golden Monkey Trekking

Steps: Parc National Des Volcans

You'll wake up early for breakfast, then with your lunch prepared by the lodge, the driver-guide will pick you up to take you to the park office for check-in and a briefing on how to behave when meeting the golden monkeys in their natural habitat. Next, you'll be driven to the Volcanoes Park boundary, where you'll trek with a local guide to meet the troops of golden monkeys. Upon arrival, you'll spend some time observing them and taking photos. After this fascinating experience, you'll return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7

Back to Kigali

In the morning, after breakfast, you'll check out, then your driver-guide will pick you up to take you back to Kigali. Depending on your flight time, you'll be dropped off at the airport or your hotel. If your flight permits, you can also take the opportunity to visit Rwanda's Royal Palace Museum before continuing on to Kigali.
