Day 1: Zanzibar to Selous - All-day game viewing
In the morning, you'll begin your Zanzibar safari, flying by light aircraft to Selous, one of Africa's most important game reserves. On arrival at Mtemere airstrip, you'll be met by our driver guide for greetings and a briefing on your tour plan.
Game drives are the best way to see many more animals, including predators. What's more, the Selous is home to Africa's largest population of wild dogs, which is a real highlight if you're lucky enough to meet a pack.
You'll start the safaris with picnics late into the evening. Afterwards, you'll return to camp and relax over a campfire, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Sunrise boat safari - Departure for Zanzibar
You'll wake up for an early breakfast followed by a sunrise boat safari along the great Rufiji River. The boat safari is an excellent way to observe animals such as colonies of birds, hippos and crocodiles coming to drink at the water's edge.
After an hour and a half, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Zanzibar.
