Stay : Chukkhung vers Island Peak

Island Peak (Imja Tse, 6,189 m), located in the eastern region of Nepal, within Sagarmatha National Park, captivates with its island form in the middle of an icy expanse. First named by the British Mount Everest Expedition in 1953, it later became known as Imja Tse, but Island Peak remains popular. Notably, Tenzing Norgay, Charles Evans, Alfred Gregory, Charles Wylie and seven Sherpas climbed its southwest side in 1953.

The summit's base camp is at 5,087 m (Pareshaya Gyab), and the high camp at 5,600 m. Experienced climbers traverse glacier-covered trails, steep snow and ice slopes. The summit is rewarded with a breathtaking view of Mount Lhotse. This 10-day tour starts in Chukhung and costs around $900 to $1,100, covering flights, insurance, permits, food and accommodation.
