Gokyo Lake Trek is a popular trekking route in Nepal's Khumbu region. Along the way, trekkers will pass through remote communities, forests and high-altitude lakes, including the iconic Gokyo Lakes, a chain of blue glacial lakes surrounded by towering peaks.

Lake Gokyo is located at an altitude of 4,700 to 5,000 m in the Solukhumbu district, Sagarmatha zone. Comprising 6 main lakes, these are the highest freshwater lakes in the world. Gokyo Cho, also known as Dudh Pokhari, is the main lake, covering 106 acres. Lake Thonak Cho is the largest of all, with a surface area of 160.8 acres.

Besides them, the other lakes are Gyazumpa Cho Lake (72 acres), Tanjung Cho (41.9 acres), Ngojumba Cho (35.6 acres) and Kyajumba Cho. The Gokyo lakes are considered a sacred lake for Hindus and Buddhists.

Detail of the stay : Lake Gokyo Trek - 9 days

Day 1: Kathmandu - Lukla - Phakding, 40-minute flight, 4-hour walk

Start your adventure with a 40-minute scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Upon arrival in Lukla, embark on a 4-hour trek to Phakding, a picturesque village along the Dudh Koshi River.

Day 2: Phakding - Namche Bazar, 6-hour walk

A 6-hour trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar, the lively heart of the Khumbu region. Cross lush forests, cross suspension bridges and climb steadily to reach Namche Bazaar, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of Everest and neighboring peaks.

Day 3: Namche Bazar - Dole, 4-hour walk

Leave Namche Bazaar and walk for around 4 hours to reach Dole, a charming village nestled in alpine scenery. Enjoy the serene beauty of the surroundings as you climb higher into the Himalayas.

Day 4: Dole - Macchermo, 4-hour walk

Trek for 4 hours from Dole to Machhermo, through pristine wilderness and rugged terrain. Along the way, marvel at the towering peaks and glaciers that dominate the landscape.

Day 5: Macchermo - Gokyo, 4-5 hours' walk

Continue your hike to Gokyo, trekking for 4-5 hours through breathtaking scenery dotted with glacial lakes and towering mountains. Arrive in Gokyo, a picturesque village on the shores of pristine Lake Gokyo.

Day 6: Gokyo - Gokyo Ri, return to Macchermo, 5-6 hour walk

Climb Gokyo Ri for panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks, including Everest, Lhotse and Cho Oyu. After enjoying the breathtaking views, descend to Machermo, which takes around 5-6 hours in total.

Day 7: Macchermo - Namche, 7-hour walk

Descend from Machermo to Namche Bazaar, a 7-hour hike through varied terrain and lush forests. Take breaks along the way to rest and refuel, while enjoying the beauty of the landscape.

Day 8: Namche - Lukla, 8-9 hour walk

Start your final trekking leg with an 8-9 hour journey from Namche Bazaar to Lukla. Pass through picturesque villages and rhododendron forests, savoring the sights and sounds of the Khumbu region one last time before reaching Lukla.

Day 9: Lukla - Katmandou, 40 minutes de vol
