Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
Arrival and accommodation in Kigali (Chez Lando Hotel)
Day 2: Tiur of the City of Kigali
We take a tour of Kigali, the cleanest city in Africa, and head for the Kigali Genocide Memorial Site. In the afternoon, we visit the Kimironko market; Accommodation at Hotel Chez Lando
Day 3: Palias Royal and Ethnographic Museums
We head for Nyungwe National Park with a stop in Nyanza to visit the Residence of the last King of Rwanda. We'll also see elegant cows, from the larger Ankolé breed, play an important role in ceremonies in honor of the king; decorated with rich jewelry and taught to listen to a coach's songs and follow his movements in a majestic parade. In the afternoon, we also visit the Huye Ethnographic Museum en route to Nyungwe National Park; accommodation at the Ken Barham Guest House
Day 4: Chimpanzee walk and canopy
Steps: Parc National De Nyungwe
We hike the Chimpanzees, humanity's closest primate. After lunch, we take a walk under the canopy; accommodation at the Ken Barham Guest House
Day 5: Ndambarare hut and transfer to Kibuye
Steps: Parc National De Nyungwe
We take a nature walk to the Ndambarara waterfall; after lunch, we drive along Lake Kivu to Karongi/ancient Kibuye; accommodation at Ken Barham Guest House.
Day 6: Boat cruise to visit the islands of Lake Kivu
Steps: Kibuye Karongi
We take a boat cruise to visit the lake's islands, mainly Nyamunini where we take a short, easy hike to see the lake's surroundings. We also experience cow swimming. After lunch, we head for Gisenyi with a stop at the Rubengera coffee washing station; after experiencing coffee planting and processing, we continue to Gisenyi with; Accommodation at Maison St Benoit Guest House.
Day 7: Rubavu-Gisenyi City Tour
Steps: Gisenyi Rubavu
We hike Mount Rubona; after lunch, we take a tour of the town of Rubavu; we visit the borders of Rwanda and the DRC; accommodation at Maison St Benoit
Day 8: Tea planting and processing experience
Steps: Ruhengeri Musanze
We head for Musanze and stop off at Pfunda Tea Estate to experience tea planting and processing. We head for Musanze/Ruhengeri and our accommodation is at the Hotel Fatima.
Day 9: Golden Monkeys, Elen DeGeneres and Gorilla Guardian/Ibyiwacu Cultural Village hike
Steps: Parc National Des Volcans
We hike the Golden Monkeys and in the afternoon visit the Elen DeGeneres campus to learn about the hard work and legacy of Dian Fossey; after lunch we take a cultural tour with the Gorilla Guardian/Ibyiwacu Cultural Village; a group of former poachers. We learn about Rwandan culture and traditional activities such as dancing, hunting, medicine, etc.; accommodation at Hotel Fatima
Day 10: Mountain Gorilla trekking and transfer to Kigali
Steps: Parc National Des Volcans
We hike the Mountain Gorillas until lunchtime. Later in the afternoon, we drive to Kigali, arriving at the hotel at dinner time. Accommodation at Hotel Chez Lando
Day 11: Animal watching at Savvanne
Steps: Parc National De L'Akagera
We head for Akagera National Park, where we encounter a variety of animals, including Africa's Big 5! At 4.30 am, we take a boat at sunset to see waiting animals and flocks of waterfowl; accommodation at Akagera Game Lodge
Day 12: Akagera Park tour and night flight
Steps: Parc National De L'Akagera
After breakfast, we drive inside the park to see more of the animals we missed the day before; later in the afternoon, we'll head for Kigali and
