Stay : Whale watching in Samana

Inexorably, every year from early January to late March, several thousand humpback whales come from the far north to the warm, calm waters of the Caribbean to mate or give birth. And it's Samana Bay, considered one of the best places in the world to observe them, that they prefer!

Detail of the stay : Whale watching in Samana - 1 day

Day 1: Whale watching in Samana

It's a long journey of thousands of kilometers that whales undertake, sometimes alone, but most of the time mingling in ephemeral groups that quickly break up. Marine mammals averaging a dozen meters in length and weighing up to 60 tons, they breathe air by regularly surfacing and then diving again, sometimes remaining apneic for up to 40 minutes. It's a real pleasure and a rare emotion to see the mother whale playing with her offspring near the boat. As for the males... they know how to be tireless in seducing their lady and asserting their superiority. These gentlemen whales jump out of the water, caper about, stand upright or strike the surface of the water with their flippers to flirt with the ladies. The males also sing, songs that whales with highly-developed hearing (their main sense) can hear up to 35 kms away!

An unforgettable experience, full of emotion, an exceptional spectacle just a few meters from the boat. To make sure you don't miss out on this fabulous adventure, Nicolas, as fascinated as ever, will comment on every move they make, and it's a real treat.
