Day 1: Arrival in Arusha.

Steps: Arusha

o Arrive at Kilimanjaro International airport, and after finishing custom procedures and passport control, meet and greet with your safari guide. After that, drive to Arusha town for check-in, dinner and overnight at a Hotel.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park

Steps: Tarangire National Park

• After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park for game drives, with a picnic lunch along the way. From Arusha we head to Tarangire, where we shall enjoy some of northern Tanzania’s finest birding. The low baobab-clad plains and fever-tree groves here support many cool species including three Tanzanian endemics and near-endemics: Ashy Starling, Yellow-collared Lovebird, and Rufous-tailed Weaver. The lush grasses are full of ground birds like Northern White-bellied Bustard and both Red-necked and Yellow-necked Francolins. This is one of the better places to see elephants, which can occur in great numbers along the Tarangire River.

• In the afternoon, proceed to a Tented Lodge for check-in, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Lake Manyara - Ngorongoro

Steps: Manyara National Park

o After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park for game drives, with a picnic lunch along the way.

• Here we shall see lots of birds and during good time, lots of Greater and Lesser Flamingos are seen in the soda waters.

• We shall enjoy birding along the moist forest, which is fed by many underground springs. The woodlands here are full of birds. We shall also visit he local swamps and Lake Manyara shores for more birds.

o This is where Florists and Botanists, as well as Birders, meet their world. A variety of vegetation species occur, ranging from monotone forest vegetation to plain savannah grassland.

o In the afternoon, proceed to a safari Lodge in Karatu town near Ngorongoro Highlands for check-in, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: LAKE MANYARA TO SERENGETI

Steps: Serengeti National Park

Have breakfast and drive to Serengeti National Park for two night's game drives, with a picnic lunch along the way.

We shall spend this time enjoying bird photography around the vast Ndutu Plains. We shall be hoping for many grassland birds’ species here and we shall also explore the dry woodlands.

We shall also visit the shores of Lake Ndutu.

• In the afternoon, proceed to a Camp in the central Serengeti for check-in, meals and overnight.

Day 5: SERENGETI NORTH

Steps: Serengeti National Park

We shall later head to Serengeti National Park; the top location for our Tanzania Birds. The following days will be spent scouting the vast Serengeti as we enjoy.

The grey-breasted spurfowl or grey-breasted francolin is a species of bird in the family Phasianidae. It is found only in Serengeti


Day 6: Ngorongoro Conservation

Steps: Ngorongoro Crater

• Eat breakfast, head to Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the Crater floor for a half-day game drive tour with a picnic lunch.

Many birds will be encountered in the crater. Herds of wild animals are plenty inside the crater as well as wonderful views of the crater walls.

• In the afternoon, proceed to a Lodge for check-in, dinner and overnight.

Day 7: NGORONGORO TO USAMBARA

o After breakfast, drive to West Usambara for bird watching and forest walk, with a picnic lunch along the way.

o In the afternoon, proceed to a Mountain Lodge for check-in, dinner and overnight


Day 8: Usambara Mountains - Farm lodge

Steps: Usambara Mountains

o Have breakfast and move to the Usambara forest for bird watching, with a picnic lunch along the way.

o Visit Usambara Villages to learn some of their cultural activities.

o Later, proceed to Farm Lodge for check-in, dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Usambara Mountains - Mountain Lodge

Steps: Usambara Mountains

• After breakfast, drive to Usambara Mountains for a forest walk and bird watching for endemic species, with a picnic lunch along the way.

• Afterwards, proceed to a Mountain Lodge for check-in, dinner and overnight.

Included: Full Board


Day 10: USAMBARA TO PEMBA

• Have your breakfast and transfer to Tanga Airport for your domestic scheduled flight to Zanzibar.

• Upon arrival meet your private transfer safari guide, who will drive you to your booked resort.

• Relax at the resort and spend the whole day at leisure.

Overnight: At a Resort

Day 11:

A visit to Ngezi Forest (home of the rare Pemba Flying Fox) will provide us with some great birding. Our key target here is the endemic Pemba Green Pigeon.

We shall also bird other parts of the island, including the clove farms and the sandy beaches. Other Tanzanian endemics we shall be looking forward to see include the Pemba Sunbird and Pemba White-eye.


Day 12: Pemba

A visit to Ngezi Forest (home of the rare Pemba Flying Fox) will provide us with some great birding. Our key target here is the endemic Pemba Green Pigeon.

Overnight: At a Resort


Day 13: Departure

• Eat your breakfast and spend the day at leisure.

• Transfer to Zanzibar airport for your domestic scheduled flight to Dar Or Kili.

• Upon arrival, proceed to Julius Nyerere/ Kilimanjaro International Airport for your international departure flight back home.
