We'll head for Tarangire National Park, where we'll stop for lunch and then for our first game drive! Tarangire National Park is well known for its huge elephant population and baobab trees. It is the center of the annual migration cycle of up to 3,000 elephants, 25,000 wildebeest and 30,000 zebra.

Day 3: Tarangire NP - Serengeti NP

Steps: Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you'll cross the cooler highlands towards the southern Serengeti and, by mid-day, reach the plains of the Serengeti National Park. This is Tanzania's largest park, with a great diversity of habitats and landscapes - short grass plains, savannah, thick bush, swamps and lakes. Bizarre rock formations called kopjes dot the grassy landscape, where predators are often seen. The Serengeti is famous for the annual migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebra in search of fresh grass and water.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park

Steps: Serengeti National Park

Full day of game viewing in Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is renowned for its annual wildebeest migration and large predator population. From February to May, a herd of over a million wildebeest (gnu) migrates to the park's western corridor, in search of greener pastures. Other animals in the Serengeti include lion, leopard, zebra, Thompson's gazelle, impala, Grant's gazelle and buffalo. Most of the park consists of vast expanses of grassland, interspersed with isolated granite kopjes (hills) and patches of acacia forest.

Accommodation: Kisura Serengeti Camp or similar

Day 5: Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro Crater

Steps: Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti National Park

We'll have an early breakfast at camp before heading to the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater. On arrival, we'll undergo the check-in process and descend to the floor of the world's largest unbroken caldera for a day of game viewing at its most wonderful. We'll have lunch at the designated picnic area on the edge of the hippo pool and continue with a safari up the crater rim for the night.
