Day 1: First steps in Gozo

Steps: Victoria - Rabat, Gozo, Xewkija, Mgarr

Arrival at Luqa airport, transfer to the island of Gozo by ferry from Cirkewwa (north of Malta). Once there, lunch at one of the many excellent fish restaurants in the port of Mgarr. On to Victoria (or Rabat) in the center of the island. Visit of the newly renovated citadel (inaugurated in June 2016). Start your visit at the brand-new Visitor Center to enjoy the cathedral (€4), the various museums inside the fortified streets(National Museum of Archaeology, Museum of Folklore, Xewkija rotunda in the distance. As the sun becomes less scorching, shop in Victoria's many craft boutiques around St. George's Square, visit the Basilica and enjoy dinner on the square. A drink at Café Jubilee will take you into the night.

Day 2: Farniente on the beaches

Steps: Gharb, Ramla Bay, Gozo, Xlendi, Dwejra Point, Marsalforn

If you are by car, go to Dwejra point for the sunrise, a magical moment before the arrival of tourist buses. Detour by its little sister, Fungus Rock. Then visit the Ta'Pinu basilica, the Maltese Lourdes. After this pilgrimage, with an empty stomach, head for Marsalforn in the north of Gozo where the restaurants on the seafront will bring you their share of happiness. Once full, a short digestive walk to the Calypso Cave with an unbeatable view of Ramla Bay. But if the warm sand is already invaded by bikinis, take the car and drive to the small and more confidential beach of San Blas. A true haven of peace, it deserves its 400 m of difference in altitude to be done on foot (possibility of paying a cab). Once the dip is over, a romantic dinner is in order, either in Marsalforn or in the superb restaurant Ta'karolina, in Xlendi.
