Day 1: Arrival and acclimatization to the altitude

Steps: Lhassa

Arrival in Lhasa (morning). Rest and acclimatization are mandatory for the rest of the day, before going out for a walk in the old town of Lhasa, around the Johkang temple.

Day 2: The monastery of Sera and its famous "discussions"

Visit of the monastery of Sera, especially to attend the famous "discussions".

Day 3: A visit to Potala in the footsteps of Dalai Lama

Steps: Lhassa

This is the highlight of a visit to Lhasa: a visit to the Palace of Potala and the Norbulingka Garden.

Day 4: Getaway in Lake Namtso

Steps: Lhassa

Weather permitting, consider making a return trip Namtso lake, a beautiful lake more than 4,000 metres above sea level.

Day 5: Discovering Tibetan Buddhism

Steps: Lhassa

In the vicinity of Lhasa, learn about Tibetan Buddhism through the visit of the monastery of Drepung, and the visit of the monastery of Ganden.

Day 6: Shopping break at the Barkhor market

Before leaving Lhasa for a visit to the Tibetan plateau, plan to shop various souvenirs in the Barkhor market.

Day 7: Gyantse and its citadel

Leave for Gyantse and enjoy the beautiful view of the Tibetan plateau roads. Upon arrival, visit the monastery and the adjoining citadel.

Day 8: The monastery of Shigatse

From Gyantse, drive to Shigatse and after settling in visit its famous and beautiful monastery

Day 9: Around Shigatse

Steps: Shigatse

Take advantage of your presence in the edge of the Tibetan plateau, to visit its immediate vicinity, including the monastery of Sakya.

Day 10: On the way to Lhasa

Returning to Lhasa, passing near the Karo La glacier.

Rest and visit of the monastery of Samye.

Day 12: Returning to the palace of Polata

It's time to say goodbye to the Yeti country and to fly back to Beijing, via Chengdu.
