Day 1: Piazza Navona and visit to the galleries

Steps: Rome

One of Rome' s Baroque centers is the Piazza Navona, with Bernini's fountains and Borromini's church of Sant'Agnese in Agone. In the church of Saint-Louis-des-Français, don't miss Caravaggio's Saint Matthew cycle. A number of other Baroque churches are scattered around this center. In the afternoon, a visit to one of the galleries, preferably that of Doria Pamphili , Spada or Colonna, will reveal typical works and, in some cases, masterpieces of Baroque painting and sculpture.

Places of interest :
GALLERIA DORIA PAMPHILJ / PIAZZA NAVONA

Day 2: From Piazza Barberini to the Trevi Fountain

Steps: Rome

The piazza Barberini and Palazzo Barberini, in which Bernini and Borromini participated, will be the other center of Baroque after piazza Navona. The Pinacoteca in Palazzo Barberini is also worth a visit. After discovering the grandeur of this illustrious family, visit the Baroque churches that surround this center: San Andrea al Quirinale and San Carlo alle Quattro. Then it's on to Piazza di Spagna and the church of La Trinità dei Monti, before finishing your tour at the Villa Borghese and its treasures. For the evening, opt for a meal around the Trevi Fountain: a jewel of Roman Baroque and an epinal image par excellence (if the legends tempt you, don't forget to throw a coin in the fountain - you'll be sure to return to the Eternal City!)
