Stay : Quick introduction to Ecuador
Although Ecuador is a small country, you should plan for at least 10 days to get a first impression of it. It is advisable to choose one of the two major options offered by the country: a cruise in the Galapagos Islands or a stay in the Amazonian forest (in both cases, allow for a substantial budget), without forgetting to spend a few days in Quito to discover its classified historical center.

Day 1: Visit of Quito
Steps: Quito
Quito. Visit of the colonial city, its churches and colonial houses. Enjoy the views of Panecillo Hill, Telefériqo or Itchimbía park.
Day 2: Directorate Otavalo
Steps: Esmeraldas, Otavalo
Morning in Quito, to complete the visit of the historic center or to discover the beautiful Archeological Museum of the Central Bank. Departure in the afternoon for Otavalo (prefer a Wednesday or Saturday for market visit).

Day 3: Marché market
Early in the morning, visit the market to animals and then the huge artisanal market. Return to Quito late in the afternoon.
Day 4: Amazonia or Galápagos?
Choose one of the two options below:
Amazonia: Immersion in the Amazon forest (4 to 5 days). Prefer the area of Cuyabeno (northeast of the country) to see more animals. Take two days for the return trip from Quito and canoe routing to the lodge. On the program: Diurnal and nocturnal excursions in the forest, viewing of flora and fauna, visit of indigenous communities.
Cruise in the Galápagos Islands: and discover the islands of Santa Cruz, San Cristobal and Isabella. Tour organized via a local agency (this option saves time and maximizes activities: excursions by boat, discovery of islands and some islands, visit of unmissable sites, possibilities to dive). Enjoy an arrival on the island of Santa Cruz.
Day 5: Amazonia or Galápagos
Continue the adventure, be it in Amazonia or in the Galápagos.
Day 6: Amazon or Galapagos, next
Continue the adventure, whether in the Amazon or in the Galapagos.
Day 7: Amazon or Galapagos, next
Continue the adventure, whether in the Amazon or in the Galapagos.
Day 8: Return to Quito
Steps: Cuenca
Return to Quito in the afternoon. Possible correspondence for Cuenca. Evening and night in Cuenca.
Day 9: Visit of Cuenca, UNESCO colonial city
Discovery of the colonial town of Cuenca, a historic jewel also classified as World heritage by UNESCO.
Day 10: It's already finished...
Steps: Guayaquil
Return to Quito or stop in Guayaquil before taking your return flight (most international flights take passengers from the two cities).
