It has many remarkable features, including a nave with side aisles dating from 1777 and a 19th-century porch tower. An altar, in baroque style, is dedicated to the education of the Virgin and Mary Magdalene. SYNAGOGUE
Read moreThis is still an important building, built by the famous architect Jean-Baptiste Schacre in the middle of the nineteenth. During World War II, the Nazis commandeered it and used it as a painting warehouse for the theater of Mulhouse. It is said that an employee of the city would have hidden a copy of the Torah in the wardrobe of the oratory to which he would have suspended a portrait of Hitler to hide the door. In 1959, donations from the Jewish community restored the building, classified under Historical Monuments in 1984.

Located on one of the last hills of the Sundgau, the building has had a turbulent history and has been partially destroyed several times. During the Revolution, the abbey was sold and it was in 1825 that Trappist monks settled there. They still live according to the Cistercian rule of poverty. The monastic shop sells flour and pasta produced at the Oelenberg mill. They also welcome the faithful for spiritual retreats.
