Discover the Ariège... or rather "the Ariège(s)", as this department boasts an astonishing diversity of landscapes, cultures, heritage and history. Do you speak Gascon or Languedocien? It's the same Occitan, yet so different. The relief is already surprising and singular, moving from the calm plains of southern Toulouse to the hills of the foothills to end, like a raging sea, on craggy massifs, sporting their eternal snows and their peaks majestically raised to the sky! It's rare to pass through here, in this country nestled between France and Andorra, but there's always a good reason to go: it could be curiosity, a love of nature or a passion for history. All of these elements have shaped the Ariege people for 14,000 years, making them a proud and combative people who move between tradition and modernity in a country that takes the time to have the time.
